Got this for a luncheon at work for Halloween to serve Crockpot Tortilla Soup. Worked great and people commented on the bowls I explained that they would biodegrade and they were made of palm leaves; one of my coworkers kept hers and is still using it for lunch salads, etc. so they hold up well if they are washed and dried.

I've been trying to decrease my plastic pollution. It's a small every but every addition to the effort will ultimately have an effect.. I've use some of the paper plates and also the palm leaf. The palm leaf are definitely better. The holder strength and also hold their form against moisture weight and heat.Research seems to show that the palm leaves are not harvested but are leaves that have fallen and actually help support additional trade.So, no trees were harmed in the production of this product, it helps supporting economy, and in my opinion they are stronger and more versatile than either the Styrofoam or the plastic coated paper plates that are currently availableWhat could be better. We bought the plates and bowls for a backyard party; they are more expensive then alternatives but they are very attractive and seem an authentic natural product. We received so many compliments (and questions) about them. A woman working our party was from Sri Lanka and immediately recognized what they were from her childhood told me all the ways they used the palm trees at home. I understand they are compostable, and although I would not do it, it appears with care, may be somewhat reusable. Also, these appear to be wood but what I understand them to be is made from dried out palm leaves which are apparently very big and thick (i.e., our Sri Lanken friend explained how they used them as wagons and pulled each other around on them as kids).

Really great product. Only thing is that you have to handle with care, if you grab them too tight, it will break easily. But it's sturdy enough to hold food.

Convenient; however, not something you can clean and reuse. Was used to serve chili and held up fine.

Three bowls were broken upon arrival :( seems like u can get bits of wood in ur food.

I was sent the wrong item; I received a tiny shallow plate, not a bowl. Here next to a measuring tape for reference - it is NOT 2.25 inches deep.
