I’ve ordered this twice. The first time was a complete disappointment. The poem had ink blotches all over such that the text was unreadable. After notification, the seller quickly sent out a new one and I had it in my hands in less than 48 hours. The second one was exactly as expected. This compass is very nice, it is heavy, the case is elegant, unique, and well-crafted. I can’t wait to give this to my spouse.

The product can be further improved like the glued compass direction inside. A better material can be used. Also, the pin holding the needle looks crude. But on the whole, the product is one you can happily recommend to friends.

This looked exactly as pictured. The leather case it comes in has a distressed worn look, with lovely burnished knobs for keeping it closed (the leather straps have slits that you pop the knobs through).The compass itself is weighty and solid in hand; clear glass display, lovely burnished underside with the poem. Other reviewers complained that the script was very tiny, but even with my challenged sight it was easily enough read.Very masculine, with a classy antique look. My beloved and i discovered the joy of travelling together, and i hope he is as pleased with it as i am, in gifting him this keepsake for his birthday.

Loved the response I got from my son for this gift. He is a geographer/planner and it was the ideal gift for him. The poem was the perfect touch, as he had to memorize it in the 6th grade and struggled to remember one of the stanzas. It was also a reminder that he almost didn’t choose geography as a field and how glad he was that he did choose the road not taken. He thought the gift was thoughtful and meaningful.

Very nice, just as described. Leather case is very nice and heavy. However, the pin holding the compass needle was bent, not allowing the needle to float. Couldn't be used as a compass. I rated it three stars because the company, NAUTICALMART, was quick to refund my money once I returned the defective compass.

Gift for boyfriend, he loved it. Seemed just a tad cheap looking but the box was super cool.

The compass came in the exact time they predicted, I did not have to pay duty (Canada), there was no red stone on the compass needle which I actually like better and it's a screw lid that comes off and the poem is etched on the inside, which is well done and completely legible, very small print obviously. The outside looks like an antique, the leather case is great to put in a pocket or backpack, fyi no loop to hook onto a belt, though that doesn't bother me. I love it, it will make a great gift! Thank you!

Super detailed leather box. Heavy body compass. Its absolutely beautiful.
