Difficult assembly but worth it.
My 11 year old was not able to assemble this by himself, but when we finally got it together it was very cool. Shoots the balls pretty hard. Fun (and cheaper) alternative to L**os without sacrificing quality. Our family has done 3 of them now. Big fun.

Powerful little shooter
My 11 year old put this together by himself. At first it didn't shoot great but we realized one piece was in the wrong spot. Once we fixed it the snap shot worked great. This thing is pretty powerful and my son was very pleased with it. I think the directions could be a little clearer for children but it is a quality toy.

Big hit with both kids
7 year old daughter loved it she did have a little help putting in the small pegs and with the directions but the package does say 14+ so this was expected. She and her older brother love playing with this and the catipult one he has, best gift ever they both said. Both kids have asked for more for their next birthdays and Christmases.

cool toy
It's an awesome toy but, confusing instructions

Not holding up to play.
The balls will break in half if fired at targets (even the box itself) from too close a range. Can't seem to find a replacement set online. The clips / pegs holding the Vex robotics panel also tend to fall out when the gun is fired. They are small and very hard to recover. Toy will work without that panel, but just waiting to step on one of those some night.

really fun toy!
This is a great build. My 7 year old and I built it together and it took quite awhile. It is a fun project to work on and spend time together. The balls shoot really far and for added fun, our cat loves to chase them!

I picked this up at a department store as a quick gift for a 14 year old boy who loves robotics. He built it and loves it.It might be too challenging for younger kids, it takes physical strength (finger strength).

Fun to build!
My son loves LEGO and building things so naturally he also likes the hex bug line up. This was the second hex bug toy we put together. The instructions are a little tricky to understand at times and unfortunately we did build a main component incorrectly so in the end it did not work for us. We haven’t had the time to take apart and fix. The pieces are a little hard to snap into place especially for kids fingers. They are fun to build and neat to see how it come’s together and works when built correctly but, was a little hard for my 7 year old (who is able to independently build LEGO sets on his own of 500+ pieces). We will stick with LEGO for now but, maybe when he is a little older get back into some hex bug kits.

Great fun
This was a lot of fun to build and has some serious power to shoot balls! It doesn't have long term play appeal though, the novelty wore off after a while.

Nice educational toy
Good educational toy for my 8 year old .... specially the planetary gear reduction...drawback is the shooting force is for so high for the balls...they split when shot...

Good gift good price
Son loved it for his Christmas gift. He’s playing with it and assembling it. A few parts seemed missing but we made it work for him. Was a good price.
