After a brief bout of disappointment, I got creative
Despite the description stating the tip would fit a 5/8" cane shaft, it did not fit mine (ez2care adjustable folding)- it was far too large. I needed the tip to work, as my old one had completely broken and was dangerous to use and I didn't have the time to wait for a new 5/8" fitting tip to be shipped and arrive. After a brief bout of disappointment, I got creative; I made a trip to the hardware store and found a small pipe adapter piece in the plumbing isle. The plastic adapter fit perfectly over my cane shaft, and increased the diameter so that the tip fit well. It has been secure in the few weeks I've been managing it.Despite the issue of ill-fit for a 5/8" cane shaft, the cane tip is quite nice. It did smell very strongly when it arrived, but has aired out enough with use that I no longer get a headache from it. I did take me a while to get used to the bounce/give of the tip compared to the one that came on my cane. It has done well on wet surfaces, and I'm happy to say it hasn't slipped once while I've been using it. I haven't had the opportunity to use the snow boot, but it seems like it would hold up well and provide nice traction.Edit: I've been using this tip for about a year now, and have had a few opportunities to use the snow boot. The cane tip does slip occasionally; just this morning I found a small pebble lodged in the tread which was causing it to slip. Once removed, the tip went back to gripping well. The snow boot works really well. I carry it in a zip-lock bag in my coat pocket, so I can put it on when going outside in the snow/ice, and take it off when going in buildings. I used it the other day to walk the dog after Blizzard Jonas snow began to melt and refreeze. My dog slipped a few times on the icy surface, but my cane never did.I haven't replaced the tip or snow boot yet, and both are holding up quite well.I'm leaving the score as 4 out of 5 stars, even though I do love the product and will certainly buy it again when I need a new set, because of the misfit and original odor. The odor has faded, but its something new buyers should be aware of, particularly if they are odor-sensitive as I am, as it made the product unusable for a few days.

Seems to work well
My only disappointment so far is I'd have liked the tip to be a little taller bottom to top. Took a little maneuvering for my compromised hands to get it on my wooden cane...though to be fair, it's a nonstandard item. But it's been working well. Didn't have any winter opportunity to use the extra grip attachment, but it had almost a heavyweight sandpaper type material on the bottom and was easy enough to put on and remove...though you'd want to have gloves on for both to avoid scratching your hands on the "sandpaper". Wouldn't want to use it across someone's carpet as I suspect it might pull fibers. But that's just the add on for ice and snow. The regular tip seems better than others I've used for nonskid...but takes a minute to get used to flexibility of the rubber which has 5 grooves similar to a spoke pattern on the bottom. I think that helps keep it from being slippery like some rubber tips can be. I'd likely purchase again....

Not easy to do
You need to replace the rubber tip that came with your crutches. Not easy to do, but not impossible. The replacement tip is pretty grippy, but I've had the replacement tip fall off of one ski already. The "snow tire" portion of the product slips over the new rubber tip. I've mostly avoided going out in the snow, but the 2 times I've used it, it felt pretty sturdy. However the cup fell off the tip one time.

so glad I got these as I need it for walking ...
so glad I got these as I need it for walking with a cane while I'm recovering from my accident/surgeries. the rain guard is sooo much better than the standard tip, more flex and doesnt slip if you dont put it down perfectly flat. however when taking the snow boot off, like in a store or public spot, your left with a bit of a mess on your hands and it has the snow/salt on it and you really have nothing else to do but put it in your pocket. to solve that you have to remember to carry a small snack baggie with you to put it in. otherwise it make me feel safer in the snow.

These are AMAZING!!!
Everyone with crutches should have a pair. The Rain Guards make such a difference on all surfaces but ESPECIALLY wet and snowy surfaces. The Snow Boots make you feel like you are on dry concrete while you traverse ice patches. What I found amazing was the Rain Guards were also very good on ice. I still preferred the Snow Boot on ice but if I don't have them handy, the Guards work terrific EVEN ON ICE! These should be standard on all crutches. The stock "non-slip" feet on my crutches were anything but non-slip. They even occasionally slipped on dry smooth surfaces, like hospital tile or hardwood floors. Truly I don't believe the really helped the crutches form sliding they just prevented them from making marks on the floor.I have recommended Rain Guards and Snow Boots to many and will continue to. If you have crutches you should have at least the Rain Guards and if you live where there is snow and ice I would recommend the Snow Boots as well. I have recommended these to more the a dozen of my friends and even people I have met on the street. My local pharmacy is actually trying to bring them in to the store to sell along each set of crutches it sells.

Walk with a cane? Buy these. No, really!
There's only one word to describe this system... awesome! The rain tips are excellent, giving great traction, even in places where I'd be hesitant to go before, such as those super slippery floors at the mall after a rain, and I just had a chance a few minutes ago to try out the snow boots, taking our trash can to the curb down our steep, 50 foot long driveway after an inch of snow fell. The grip was fantastic, and the snowflake shaped impressions the tip made in the snow made me smile.I showed them to my osteopath and she had not heard of them before but was quite impressed with them and said she'd let her other patients know about them.Yes, they're a bit expensive for cane tips, but how expensive would a trito the hospital be if you slip? A lot more, right? These are cheap insurance compared to that, and THEY WORK.
