This paddle replaces the paddle that came with my SUP from 2017. That paddle did not float and the paddle portion (which was not detachable) actually fell right off the end into the water a few weeks ago and disappeared. This paddle is easy to put together, but a little difficult to pinch and pull apart for storage, but only need to do that once per use. I find the paddle comfortable, easy to change Heights which I do throughout the day moving from standing to sitting on the board. And confirmed it floats.

It floats!!! I also like that is breaks down into 3 pieces. Also stays at whatever length you set it at, last paddle I had (that sank in the lake!!) didn't stay where I set it & that was irritating! I guess it's a good thing it sank, now I have a quality paddle :)

Returned.Cons:After assembling the part with the slip fit for the non-adjustable portion was very sloppy, poor fit, would cause lots of energy loss and poor feel in the water (never actually used in the water).Also seemed relatively heavy to the (fiberglass?) paddle that came with the Costco Hyperlite Admiral SUP paddle that was sunk.The adjustable portion was the same type of locking mechanism we had before and liked (doesn't allow twist), but this one seemed really stiff. Was worried it could snap as I saw in other product reviews (for different paddles with same mechanism).Pros:Did like the anti-twist lock.The height was better than the old paddle (may have added to the weight). I am 6' 3" with a 6' 10" wingspan and our old paddle was a little short for me. This would have been perfect if it had another inch (just by the height if I lift my hand straight up to grab the handle).

This paddle is lightweight with a comfortable grip, and I enjoyed using it last summer. I always rinse and dry my board and paddle before storing away in my garage. When I went to use this paddle again this summer, the adjustable metal pieces for changing height had completely rusted away and broken off inside the paddle. My paddle is now in two useless pieces. I’m going to try to drill some holes and MacGyver this so it will still work, but a product that’s made to be used in water need parts that won’t totally rust away. I don’t think I could have prevented this unless I took the paddle totally apart and blow-dried the interior of it each time I used it. If you buy this, I recommend completely disassembling after each use to be sure every drop of water evaporates out of it.

At first I was very frustrated when I received this item because it came without any directions, and I couldn't see how to adjust the length. I found a You tube video that explained how to unlatch the hidden pin by pressing on the plastic collar with your thumbs. Poor choice not to include directions. However, I am extremely pleased with the paddle itself.It is actually perfect for a slightly unconventional additional use. I recently bought a 21 foot sailboat, and when I first launched it, both the wind and the outboard motor failed, and I found myself literally "up a creek (actually a canal) without a paddle." because my boat has a relatively high freeboard, a conventional paddle is not practical and is very awkward to use. With this very long adjustable paddle, I can extend it so as to comfortably stand in the cockpit of my boat and paddle it the short distance it takes to get to open water outside the marina where I keep the boat. I am having the motor fixed and ordinarily will use it, but having this paddle as a backup is quite handy and effective. It is also very important that it is adjustable and breaks down into three pieces so it can easily be stored out of the way when not needed, otherwise I wouldn't want to keep it in my small boat, in which case it would be useless. Excellent product.
