Lots of great information
This is my favourite type of book, packed with statistics, applicable information, and how to apply suggestions to real life. I used my highlighter and sticky tabs a lot, for future reference.

Great book for weight loss and good health
This book is very readable - intelligently and well written as well as full of humour. It gives a workable diet with lots of background information about how fructose is so poisonous and dangerous to the body. The diet is much simpler and less punishing than many other more pure Keto type diets (which don't suit vegetarians and which rely on everyone in the world eating large quantities of meat, and that can't possibly be sustainable.) The book contains quite a lot of technical information, but it's important to know why you should follow this particular diet in preference to any other. Sometimes it is not so easy to take it all in, but is worth the effort - partly because it is so beneficial to know about it, and partly just because it is so fascinating and full of amazing information to those of us who are not medically qualified. I loved this book and can't recommend it enough and have just bought (but not yet read) the sequel 'The Sweet Poison Quit Plan', which contains some sweet but sugarless recipes!

Interesting and informative
I enjoyed this book. I had to giveit a 4 star rating because there aren't enough notes to find the sources. This is especially annoying if one would like to follow up on the reports.Too bad. It could have been great.

This is a must - read!
I was recommended this book by a friend and found it very easy reading.I have a scientific background but know very little about metabolism or biology. The book is well laid out, easy to follow, and speaks directly to the reader but doesn't dumb down the complex science behind diet and the way our body processes food into energy.I have been cutting high-fructose foods from my diet for a few weeks now, and already find that my appetite is generally reduced and I feel full quicker. I sleep better and my regularity has improved! I also enjoy eating foods that previously tasted bland much more (ie vegetables and plain, unsweetened biscuits). I've already noticed that I've started losing some body fat, and a little weight, with no real other significant change to my lifestyle other than avoiding high-fructose foods. But the improved well-being is more important than the weight issue for me.Although there are many other very important factors in lifestyle and diet such as excersise and avoiding high-salt and 'bad' fats, the dangers of the hidden sugar added to most of our food is a hugely important issue and is one that the diet industry seems to ignore. Just last week, leading research groups were writing newspaper articles about the dangers of eating too much carbohydrates, and completely ignoring the sugar issue except in passing reference ("oh well, and of course you should avoid too many sweets.")For me personally, the message in this book has made a positive impact on my lifestyle in just a few weeks. This book is a must-read!
