Abuff - Metal Guiro Shaker, 12" x 6" Stainless Steel Guiro Instrument with Scraper Latin Percussion Instrument Musical Training Tool

I was positively impressed when I open the amazon box and found air pillows padding the other box that contained this guiro. My first impression was a positive one. Immediately proceeded to my stash of instruments parts to find a scraper from another guiro I own because the one that comes with this one is definitely on the cheap side and too rough for this guiro.When i first tried it with the scraper that came in this kit my ears began to ring immediately; this guiro could get loud and shallow sounding, mainly because of the scraper. To my surprise, when I played it with my other scraper I was pleased by the sound, still loud but crisp and less shallow, You still want to muffle this guiro a bit with some foam padding (Its a normal thing, guireros often do that with even higher quality-more expensive instruments) but you won't be disappointed. I'm pretty sure that, aside form the badging from the most expensive/name brand guiros (and the cheap scraper) you won't find a difference in quality and or materials if you set them side by side.Definitely a grrrrreat buy!

I'm a beginner but believe this is a good product with good sound. I upgraded the scraper, per advice of many reviews and am pleased.

This is a really really good deal. These things normally go for around $200, sometimes more.I've had a few guiras back in the day and have played in merengue bands. Sound and quality is top notch. This is an absolute steal.But yes, like other reviews have said, get another scraper.

I have had several guiros. I even had a professional one made in the Dominican Republic. The instrument is great for the price. The scraper is a bit disappointing. And it dose sound a bit shallow or hollow, a piece of foam will fix that right up. I used a piece of acoustic foam I had laying around and it fixed that. There are a couple areas where the glue was not cleaned off. For the price and size it's a good deal

The reason I gave 4 and 3 stars is because the little metal sticks fall from it and is not practical to be in a show or playing this instruments and is falling a part.
