Functional, practical, economical, and sturdy. Worth trying for the price.
I bought one of these in 2007. It worked flawlessly until I left it out this past winter and it got caught up in some heavy spring undergrowth in a flower bed I was not able to get to before it was a jungle. I yanked on the thing to get it out of the jungle and in all that action, dropped it on the cement. a piece of metal broke off (the part that thwacks the water (chch-chch-chch) rhythmically. Anyways, I did a lot of reading on other sprinklers, and in the end, I just bought what I knew. For the price, having it last 9 years (would have been longer if I'd taken care of it!), I figured it was worth it. This one has the brass-colored all metal head and my old one was gray-silver colored metal. So I don't know if this is an improvement in engineering, or just a cheaper version of the old one. We'll see next time I drop it I guess. The ONLY reason I did not give this a 5 star rating is because, while the base is weighted, it isn't VERY weighted, and I do have to throw a large rock on the base if my hose is at all even slightly twisted anywhere along its length, or if I'm watering on my hilly front yard. I also like that it sprays far, wide, short, or narrow depending on your needs.

love the flexibility
Looking for a unit that could be easily moved and cover the widest area possible on our .65 acres was key and this unit works very well for that task. The range is long, perhaps not as long as advertised but close. We do have high pressure city water which does help. The adjustability is great. Its very easy to change the arc size just by moving the paddles and the diffuser works great for more of a misting spread.I didn't test chaining the units together however I don't see any issue with accomplishing this. The only downside if it is one is that the base is a bit light so if placed on a surface like a driveway if the hose is at all bent tends to make the unit move around. I had a challenge at a couple spots because the hose was moving it around, perhaps due to the pressure.Otherwise great unit, I am considering getting a second one so I can knock out two times the lawn at once.

Not bad, but don't chain them
If you're looking for a simple, cheap sprinkler, and you don't want to chain them together, then this one is fine. Some notes:1. Coverage is not especially even, unless you use the diffuser to interrupt the stream. It overwaters the outer edge of the path.2. Using the diffuser decreases the diameter of the coverage by about 50-70%3. In conditions of low water pressure (for example, when using this on one half of a Y connector, or in a chain with another sprinkler), there is not enough force for the sprinkler head to turn. This results in the sprinkler watering a single spot on the lawn, flooding it, because it's unable to rotate. All that said, if you just want a simple, cheap sprinkler, it isn't too bad. If you're willing to pay a little more, I suggest a craftsman rotary sprinkler with four nozzles (provides much more even coverage, rotates under low pressure conditions, but does cost about $29).Hope that helps.

Excellent Sprinker - Excellent price
It feels somewhat ridiculous to be writing a review on the performance of a sprinkler, but this one warrants the effort. Over the past few years, I have purchased approximately 10 sprinklers. This is, by far, the best. To sweeten the pot, it is also the cheapest I have bought.Normally, when I see a sprinker say its range is 50, 60, 70, etc. foot diameter, I immediately discount that range as some theoretical, laboratory-type performance (no wind, perfect water pressure, etc). Without being a total geek and pulling out the tape measure, I can say it has done easily over 75 feet on my front yard, and it does so with a good, strong, evenly distributed spray. The plastic-sled design is heavy enough to keep the sprinker anchored so that the impact mechanism functions flawlessly and accurately. I've purchased 3 or 4 "spike" design impact sprinklers and, invariably, the ground at the base of the sprinkler gets saturated, so the sprinkler wobbles, tips, and the next thing you know, you are watering your trees and not your lawn.I just bought two more before it is no longer available. This one is well worth your money.

Nice base, noisy impact sprinkler
I bought it for the base and gave away the sprinkler head. Sprinkler heads of this design disturb the peace and quiet for me. I use sprinkler heads of a different design. But the base is nice.

Good adaptability for covering area
The packaging! I couldn't believe how bad the flimsy cardboard looked on receipt. Corners were smashed and torn but the product was uninjured thankfully.

The round base rocks -- not the spike.
I bought the round base, not the spike (the pot-metal spikes have ALWAYS been very prone to breaking). And while the round base is plastic and NOT weighted -- it sure does work. Best of all, it's very easy to move. I bought one, then another, then another, and now I'm buying my 4th. 2-3 sprinklers per hose bib valve work best. Oh, and the American Valve M71QT (1/2") or M76QT (3/4") are absolutely awesome hose bib valves because of the size of their bore openings (every other valve from the box stores are just worthless because of their pinhole size openings). I'm reviewing those next.

Doesn't get a large area
I have half an acre and I need one that does a large area and unfortunately this one didn't get a large enough area for me. It may be fine for others who have less yard.

Has a Design weak spot
Rotation adjustment clips are too weak, and keep moving, causing unwanted area spraying . Spring steal not strong enough, and no way to tighten

Mauvais
Ne fait pas la rotation
