PERFECT pool thermometer
We bought this for a new wood-fired hot-tub, and wanted insight in to how fast or slow it would heat up, so we don't need to stand next to it whitst it is heating. This floating thermometer has great range, works even through the pool cover, (although not so great through walls), but gives you not only temperature, but a graph of temperature evolution - so for example, I can see how long teh tub continues heating, and by how much, once I shut off the air vents to the fire, and also, get an idea of exactly how much wood is needed, so I not only avoid wasting it, but also, I don't over-heat the tub, making it too hot to get in.ABSOLUETLY delighted with this thermometer. I've only had it for 3 days, so can't comment on how well it will last, but first impressions are great. How to use - arrives in a simple box with no need for instructions. There's a piece of paper with a QR code for an App Store link for the App which runs it - you download the App, and it links your phone with the thermometer, and away you go! Simple as that !!

Fantastic service
Had a problem with my pond thermometer I emailed their service department on the evening of 5th June, on checking my emails the next day I had a reply to my email sent at 4am in the morning. I was sent a system to re-synch the unit, although I had already tried similar, however the unit failed to respond. I emailed back informing them that the unit would not work, I received an email almost by return saying that as the item was just under a year old they were posting a replacement, which arrived on the 8th June. Now that is customer service. If you want a pond thermometer look up INKBIRD.

Good when it works, but they do not last more than 1 year.
For the time that it does work it is great. We use to monitor the temperature of a wood fired hot tub all year round. The bluetooth will transmit approx 10m to our house, though we have a better reception higher up for some reason. Batteries last ages, like 6 months, and the historic data stored is equally as good.However.... I had my first one replaced after 9 months, the replacement one has now stopped working after 11 months.Inkbird say "The appearance of small water droplets on the product screen is not the cause of water leakage, but the water vapor condensing into small water droplets caused by the temperature difference caused by the hot weather". I say it doesn't matter if it's hot or cold, it still doesn't like getting wet!If the bluetooth stops working, in the case of my second device, you will struggle to read the screen."We are very sorry for the inconvenience caused to you by the product problem. In fact, we only provide one reissue or refund service during the product warranty period."

Worked pretty well with Home Assistant so far
We've had this device since late summer, and it's worked pretty well. We access the readings through Home Assistant so range isn't a massive issue (Bluetooth receiver of Home Assistant is about 10 metres from pool), but when I've used the iPhone app I have noticed the range is fairly limited - requiring direct line of site once I go into the house 10m away (works okay when standing at the window but fails when moving into the room). If anyone is wondering how to set this up in Home Assistant, a working Bluetooth receiver and the Inkbird integration seem to do the trick.

Worked really well, but broke after a about a year...
Works really well, seems quite well calibrated (within 0.2C AFAICT) and is still on the same set of batteries I put in about 2 months ago (from reading the reviews the wireless frequency version of the same can be very battery hungry, but this BlueTooth version seems fine so far).UPDATE: It eventually ended up with water getting inside and broke. I think I managed to change the batteries 3 times in total and it lasted about a year. I was very careful to completely tighten the top each time and from examination it looks like the water may have gotten in through the bottom where there is a little metal probe/sensor... Bought another one as can't really find anything better and not a huge loss having to replace it periodically (I have a salt water pool so not sure if that might be a factor in it failing?).

Doesn’t last very long
This is a great item that certainly does the job when new but the display on the floating part soon gets misty and hard to read. It is just a year old (also has been out of the pool over the winter) and now doesn’t work at all

Works well
Put some batteries in the transmitter and the receiver, chucked the transmitter in the pool, and immediately started to see the water temperature. Doesn't seem to have any problems with water leaking in and happily floats around in the pool. It's a bit smaller than expected, which is nice - doesn't get in the way when you're in the pool. I have the receiver about 15-20m away inside the house and has no trouble picking up the signal. If you're a nerd like me, you can receive the 433Mhz signal from the transmitter using a Raspberry Pi and a DVB-T tuner stick and do all kinds of interesting things with the data - mine is plotted on ThingSpeak. I found that the reception was variable though - I needed the receiver antenna to be located higher than the pool otherwise the signal kept dropping out (presumably when the signal had to pass through the pool water). Data is transmitted whenever the temperature changes or roughly every 6 minutes.
