This does the job for us perfectly, and came with the necessary bolts to mount to the charger. We simply have our charger sitting a'top the t-post, where the weight is sufficient for our needs. In an ideal world, I would have appreciated having a insert-able mold that would allow the bracket to be fit on the post from any side... as we had already driven our post before realizing the directional needs. Live and learn. :)

HARDWARE INCLUDED! I ordered this feeling bummed by the reviews that I was also going to need hardware separately. Very glad I waited to receive it rather than trust the lists of what else I needed to get. There was a plastic bag with mounting hardware included in the package. Guess companies read these reviews after all.

Easy to install

For the price, it could come with a 5/15 bolt and eliminate all the complaints about being loose. If you’re worried about what way your tpost needs to face, remember you can pop the lid off the charger like you are getting to the battery and just remount it turned around with the solar panel facing the other direction.

All in all it works, but could be better the bottom shaft could be longer and have a couple of more holes on it for better mounting to the studs on the t post. Other reviews said to get a t post that is cut so the stud of the post is closer to the large drilled holes which makes the bracket non removable from the t post. I rummaged through piles of t posts sticking the bracket on the top until I found just the right one. You can get a t post that fits just right to the bracket. I used a pad lock to secure the bracket to the post. I put the solar charger on the bracket and the bracket on the t bar and I could not pull the solar charger off with a pad lock on. What was frustrating about the installation was falling the manufactures sizes of bolts. You really do need a size 10 bolt but you can get a longer #10 bolt like a half inch. I did not check inside the solar energizer to see how much room I had, and went with the manufacterors instructions this was a mistake, because #10 3/8 in long bolts are vary rare, you can find a lot of #10 1/2 in bolts and other sizes, but good luck finding that size at any big box store. After going to three different stores I finally found the size the manufaturor said to get. Only to find out there is a lot of room in the energizer and I could have probably used #10 2 in bolt, so if you can't find the 3/8 in short bolt, go to the more common next size up if it will fit in your energizer and you should be fine with a 1/2 in long bolt, but depending on your energizer you may need the really hard to find 3/8 in long bolt. The fact that getting the nuts and bolts were such a hassle and something that should have been included with the bracket is why this only gets three stars. The anti theft label is also kind of funny because if someone wanted to take it they could just take the t bar with the energizer mounted on it.

First of all, there's some indications that it includes the mounting hardware - IT Doesn't! You'll need two #10 x 3/8" bolts, nuts and flat washers, as well as four #10 star washers. Secondly, you'd get just as good a fit if you took a tin can and dropped it over the T-Post, there's about 45 degrees of play in the bracket if you don't have a padlock on it. (Haven't checked it with a padlock, we're pretty isolated and weren't going to bother). Lastly, as you can see from the picture there's two mounting holes that exactly line up with the holes on the charger (DF-SP-LI for us), kudos on getting that right, but the inner box is welded off center! Just sloppy process really, I had a fun time modifying a bolt so it would fit in the space left. My advice and intention if I do this again, I'll modify a well fitting T-Post Cap as a starting point and just make something up myself.

I found another way to install this as they require disassembly of the unit in order to install them to be "theft resistant". The tolerances on the centering of the mount holes appears to be loose, so there is interference on one side of the bracket I received to tighten the nut. It works fine once deciding how to mount it to the fence unit. I will be interested to see how the small screws hold up as the fence units with batteries and solar are heavy. With a small amount of work, these can be secured in a better way than presented in the instructions with beefier hardware and bigger holes and screws.

Really thought I was going to be disappointed by this as it looked too simple. KISS really is the way to go with this kind of device. It works like a hot darn and secures the charger really well to a metal electric fence post with the studs on it. We lost a $600 charger to theft before we got this, unbelievable but true that someone would endanger our bees leaving them exposed to bear attack, but there are low life creeps everywhere. This will slow them down. You need to get your post well fastened to the ground or the thief can just pull the whole post out. We did that by digging a 6" hole about 18" deep, sinking the post in, then pounding some rebar in sideways, lashing the rebar to the post and filling the hole with sprayfoam type of post anchor. That bound it all together and anchored the post. We'd have to dig a 2 foot hole now to get the post out, while this product combined with a long hasp padlock have it all fixed.
