Using It For My Pygmy Goat With Thiamine Deficiency
I'm so glad I found this store on Amazon! I have a sick goat. She is 12 yrs old and all of her teeth are loose. Goats only have a bottom layer of teeth, only gums on top, no teeth. She has been unable to chew hay properly, and goats need hay for digestion and proper function of their rumen (they have multiple stomachs). And if the rumen doesn't function properly the goat ends up with a Thiamine deficiency. And that in turn causes bloat, a large distended belly. For years I've been buying thiamine injections from my veterinarian on an emergency basis. Recently I decided to research giving her a daily thiamine supplement and ran across BulkSupplements. After reading reviews and realizing this powder is very potent and clean, I decided to give it a try. I also bought B12 powder since the vet always sends an injection with that too. I've been giving "Lily" a quarter teaspoon of each powder mixed in with powdered nursing milk and she loves it. She's been bloated for about a week and had not responded to injections, but after giving her the powder once a day for the past two days she seemed to be more active today. I'm not positive this will alleviate the problem with my goat, but I can definitely say I'm very pleased with the quality and price of these powders. This is a great option for those of us who prefer to take charge of our (and our pets) health, and take advantage of quality supplements. Five stars for a clean, quality and affordable option! Pic of Lily attached.

Excellent for helping with recovery from alcoholism.
After several years of heavy alcohol abuse, a few weeks ago I was able to get sober with the help of my physician. I did a lot of research on how to correct any damage or deficits caused by the alcohol and found that, among other things, I had many of the symptoms of thiamin deficiency. I also read that alcoholics don't absorb it through the intestines very well, and so I bought this pure powder supplement, hoping to overcome that problem.I rubbed the powder under my tongue because I know that from there it can be absorbed directly into the bloodstream, bypassing the GI tract. It is very bitter on the tongue but by rubbing it under the tongue, holding it there for a couple of minutes, and then washing it down with a sweet drink I can avoid tasting it.The first thing I noticed, the very first day, was that that evening I felt sleepy and for the first time in months? years? I fell asleep quickly and naturally without the aid of alcohol, sleeping pills or melatonin. I slept soundly for nine solid hours and woke up feeling refreshed and energetic. The second thing I've noticed (after three days of use) is that I have a lot more energy, and that the chronic swelling that had developed in my feet and ankles has disappeared despite the fact that, if anything, my intake of sodium has increased since I became sober.I can't wait to see what the next few weeks bring!

definitely bitter and no guidance with serving size ex no idea # milligrams in an 1/8 teaspoon
got the thiamine HCI bag, but it has no guideline as to milligram equivalency. someone noted that 1/16 teaspoon is roughly = 100mg dose (so 1/2 tsp would be 800mg), another noted that a 1/2 teaspoon is roughly = 1250mg. which of those is more accurate? ultimately, i need to know what a 1/8 teaspoon is equal to as that is the smallest serving spoon i have.i got the bag to do mega high doses to counter a big B1-deficit confirmed by various tests incl genetic microbiome (as a result i have daignosis of stage 2 parkinson's).and it has a bitter taste that some 'no taste' folks apparently cant taste. i wrote bulksupplements.com to ask for more measurement info. when they answer, i'll update/edit this review.

Easy to take, a little bitter
Although I've been taking 25mg for years, recently I learned that some folks may be super deficient in B1. Wondering if this deficiency was at the root of my longstanding health problems, I decided to experiment with dosing using this product. Having powder handy is just so much nicer than popping 20 pills. In an Italian study, researchers gave participants between 600mg and 1,800mg. I've used this powder to try different dosages to see if it helped me like those in the study (with CFS and other potentially longstanding beriberi problems, specifically constipation). Just so you know, this powder doesn't smell but its pretty bitter. I'm not someone who cares about that, but I realize some people do.Turns out that to make acetylcholine your body needs both B1 and choline, and that can help with constipation (lifelong for me). I think I'm finally getting somewhere with this. Apparently it can take 6+ months to recover. While I started out taking high dosages, I found I needed to scale back to 600mg (the smallest amount that yielded results in the Italian study). I got sick within a week (which for me is a good sign--called a "paradoxical reaction" or herxheimer). Crossing my fingers.

100% Clean and Uncut
1000 servings per package. That's great right there. 1 starGreat low price. 1 starThis product comes in a great re sealable foil-ISH packet, and is easy to scoop out your one fingernail serving. 1 starThe expiration date on my package is 11OCT16, I should finish this in 500 days if I use 100 mg/day (1/32 teaspoon) 1 starIf you're an athlete, you already know that Thiamine helps build lean muscles. Thiamine is one of the vitamins required for protein metabolism and growth. Taking Thiamine along side of your protein shake and meals, will enable your body to metabolize more protein per serving. Thiamine also helps build hemoglobin, which transports fresh oxygen to your working muscles. More oxygen fresh blood means you can train harder, use up your fat stores for energy, and build lean muscle mass. The more intense you train, the more oxygen rich blood you need, the more thiamine you need.Thiamine tastes horrible, but thank goodness one coke nail is probably too much for a single serving. 1 star
