Product Description Lewis Black: Red, White and Screwed (DVD)Comedian/author/playwright/pundit Lewis Black stars in his second HBO solo special, an all-new hour of frenetic, take-no-prisoners stand-up comedy, taped before a live audience at the Warner Theatre in Washington, DC. Lewis Black: Red, White & Screwed features Black's opinions and insights into such issues as the State of the Union, abortion, frozen embryos, defecation habits, fossils, bad language, FEMA and, of course, Dick Cheney's aim.]]> .com "Apoplectic" is the word to describe Lewis Black's 2006 engagement at Washington DC's Warner Theater. There's eye-crossing, teeth-gnashing, raspy-voiced yelling, and liberal use of the f-word. (As Black reveals, the Kennedy Center refused their facilities on the grounds that he used the word 42 times in his first hour-long HBO special.) Then again, George W. Bush's second term has given the comedian much to be apoplectic about--Dick Cheney's hunting mishap, airport (in)security, the president's support of creationism, and the inanity of 24-hour cable news. At one point, he admits, "I just can't keep up with all the...stuff," although that isn't his exact phrase. Lest potential viewers think Black (The Daily Show, Black on Broadway) is nothing but a blue state apologist, he makes his distaste for John Kerry clear, i.e. "The fact of the matter is for the Democrats not to be able to find somebody who could've defeated George Bush is beyond belief--it's stunning." Black also explores misconceptions about Judaism, the media obsession with Terry Schiavo, and myths about the "homosexual agenda," which is to say: there isn't one. A few too many excretory jokes aside, Black otherwise makes good points and produces hearty laughs--some from his proud parents, who are part of the audience. As for the extras, they're brief, but amusing, and English is the only audio option. --Kathleen C. Fennessy

Laugh Out Loud Funny!
Do not buy this DVD if you are a humorless Republican. Or a Tea Partyer. Or anti-gay. Or a fan of George W. Bush. You won't find this funny. For the rest of us, though, this is Grade-A top-drawer stand-up. Great for a Friday night after a long week at work!!This show is also laced with more than a dollop of profanity, a vivid description of gay sex, and plenty of irreverent humor. Still in? Buy it, you'll love it! Even though some of the political humor is dated now, if the "W" years in the White House nearly drove you to need to attend AA weekly, this is a DVD to be savored, watched several times, and shared with friends.Caveat: The Puritan in me cautions that this DVD shouldn't be shown to anyone under 18, due to loads of TMI. Once he/she can vote, though, this could be an excellent cautionary tale of what happens when voters don't think before voting.

NOT Screwed on this purchase!
My father asked me if I could order him a copy of this DVD, and well...its my Dad so of course I did! He received it quickly and in great condition. He first called to let me know that it arrived ahead of schedule and that he and my mother would be watching it that night. The next day he called to let me know just how hilarious it was and that I MUST watch it. I've not followed Lewis Black much but I agreed (again...Dad said so) and I had to admit, it was one of the funniest programs I have seen in years! I do recommend it to any Lewis Black fan, or anyone who has not had the pleasure of seeing him perform. Great Job Lewis!

Love this video, but Prime edited out at least one of the bits
I love Lewis Black, and I love Red, White, & Screwed. I've watched it on DVD many times. I thought sure, I'll buy it on Prime. It was good, but I realized I missed one of my favorite bits. I went and found the bit on DVD, and the Prime version is missing it."Lewis, fossils are the handiwork of the Devil..."

Lewis Black - Red White & Screwed - Excellent!
Lewis does it again with his insightful humor and on target perceptions of the world we live in, topics such as government, current government adminstration, religion, evolution, immigration, Katrina, and much more. This DVD is as good as his Black on Broadway DVD. His delivery is second to none. A DVD is the best way to see Lewis. Just getting an audio CD of his act is only half the show - seeing him and his expressions is truly hilarious. He has fine tuned his jokes and delivery and in my opinion.... no other comedian today can match. Beware, he uses expletives liberally and other statements that may shock you, but uses them to make his points so they actually work well in the act. Note: May not want to listen to this in front of young children... but you must see this and buy these as gifts for your friends. I have and they thank me!!

Bush Era Lewis Black - Comedy at it's finest.
Lewis Black has been one of my favorite comedians for a long time - I have watched many of his DVD's and always enjoyed his segment on the Daily Show. This is political comedy at it's finest. Recorded during the Bush era - it is sad that now 9-10 years later we are still walking down the path that he points out. Always funny, always profane, comedy that makes you think and open your mind a little bit more is well worth watching. The sound and recording of this live show is well done, and for the most part the cutting from camera to camera works well.If you aren't upset by profanity then I highly recommend this for a good laugh.

Black Is Going Insane to Keep Us Sane
Lewis Black is one of the most politically minded and intelligent comedians working today: he goes insane to keep us sane. He has a sharp mind that highlights, in extraordinarily humorous ways, the idiocies of our "democratic," two-party system today (or any day). His verges towards complete outraged craziness (or insanity -- you decide) are amazingly spot on and highlight his points, but always in a way that will have you and keep you laughing.I have watched this over a dozen times, and I could watch it again (especially in the age of Trump), and, in fact, I will watch it again ...
