Completely useless
I had mislaid my multimeter so I typed 'Continuity Tester' into the Amazon search box and this came up.Having had many successful Silverline products in the past I trusted the brand.I thought as a Prime next-day delivery it would give me a cheap 'quick fix' to check a multi-core lead for faults. However this has turned out to be completely useless, as follows:I realised early on that it needs a 6V or 12V separate power source - OK I thought - I can provide that.I can use it as a bulb holder and just improvise a continuity tester from the bits.So i took it apart and tried to take out the bulb from its bayonet clip mounting; it broke off when I tried to remove the long spring from the bulb! When I eventually got the bulb case out I discovered that the spring beneath it providing the centre contact was loose in a plastic sleeve and therefore would not guarantee contact even in normal use. While I was doing this I lost the fuse from the other end: the metal cap was loose so the two bits parted company. (I don't understand what the fuse is for, because to access the top end you'd have to poke something metal through the hole in the top of the unit!)The bayonet holder is not even suitable to put in another bulb. The supplied bulb is rated 12 V which may explain why on the 'sister' unit ( Silverline 675110 Continuity Tester 1 x AA ) people have reported it is very dim.I'm not even going to seek a refund: got my money's worth with this rant.Oh, and my multi-meter turned up yesterday.

Light Up Your Life
I hace a circ tester similar to this one but have been looking for a replacement bulb without success so I bought this one which is wired slightly differently. When I seperated the two parts of the body the glass of the wee bulb had come apart from the metal part so I went back on the search for a bulb and found that 12volt miniature bayonet bulbs are used in cars for various things like number plate lights so once they arrive that should sort things and I'll have 2 working circuit testers. Apart from this wee problem it seems well made and good value for money.

A big struggle to get it to work.
One of the worst purchases I've ever made on Amazon.I had to stretch the internal spring, then sleeve the internal spring, then replace the bulb before this would work. (Did I blow the bulb shorting out while struggling to get continuity?)Then the crocodile clip fell off the wire. And to cap it all, my wife, knowing how much I needed it, ordered another from a different supplier at 3 times the price to arrive the next day. Now I have two.Very tempted to send it back.

Great Simple Continuity Tester for Live Circuits.
Arrived the next day as an 'add on' for only £2.51. Although bigger than I thought it was going to be (about 8"/20 cm long). Seems to be of decent quality. @ 12v nice bright indicator bulb. The probe is robust and sharpened to a needle point. Ideal for piercing wire insulation or just checking blade fuses for continuity. All you need to see if 'Juice' is getting there on live circuits. Pretty robust as well. The earth lead is just under 3Ft long and joins the probe about half way down, not at the end. To me an advantage, as the earth wire is in your hand. It is nice and supple and should not interfere with testing.D.

Quality
Wasn't expecting much , well not for that price . But , I must say was proven wrong .. Well made . even the cable is silicone and very flexible . Nice and comfotable in the hand and so easy to use . saves struggling with a multimeter in awkward places .. So good , I just ordered another while writing this review . One for the workshop and the other will be kept in the vehicle . Now to find some spare bulbs

item works fine, yet differs from pic and slightly rusty
The item has been tested and appears to do the job it was intended for and for a reasonably reputable branded item it offers good value for money. However the item received is slightly different to the item pictured, wherein the picture the front part of the body appears to be of metal construction the one received is black plastic. I was not impressed upon removing the protective cover for the top half of the tester that the metal spiked end was covered in patches of rust. I don't expect to receive a brand new item covered in rust .... shoddy!.

Not New Damaged Goods
Rather disappointed with this circuit tester, The cardboard and plastic case that it came in wasn't new,It looked like it had rusty deposits inside it the fuse inside the tester was damaged and the tester tip rusty,All in all looked more like second hand than a new item.

Does what it's supposed to
Neat test probe that lights up when checking 12V car supply, not going to be a regular use item in workshop environment but for home car maintenance, hobby work seems ideal.
