Easy-enough assembly. Great, minimalist look. Great quality.
FUNCTION & LOOK: Five stars, very nice. Looks classy. Nice, genuine wood. No complaints so far! Found this thanks to a Wirecutter rec. Overall, fantastic for the price (compared to similar quality & more expensive frames). ASSEMBLY: Got this about a week ago and so far love it. I put it together myself [what? a woman!? BY HERSELF?! so neat so hot so super cool... and it's just, like, an ordinary tuesday after work for me (not to brag but to brag...)]. No but seriously, I have every faith anyone could do this assembly in reasonable time—UNLESS putting furniture together inherently frustrates you... then maybe recruit help. No shame in it. Note -- assembly: I did have to pause and double-check myself at one point where the directions confused me, it turned out I was doing it right, so I happily just moved on and ended up finishing pretty quickly. I wasn't timing it, so I can't say I did it in under an hour, or thirty minutes. But it feels like it was super quick... Note 2 -- brand/assembly: I love the little ratchet allen wrench this comes with! Our last bed frame was also from Zinus, a metal one we now use in our guest room, & that came with one, too. We've used that wrench assembling other, non-Zinus things—it's just *so* handy... Note 3 -- brand: Zinus also throws in this other, to me, funny, but also thoughtful & almost-classy touch when you buy their stuff—at least the bed frames (I think it's meant to say, hey, customer, we care enough to go the extra mile; we like you; so please can we haz 5 stars? & maybe/probably it's useful to some folks): a very svelt green envelope filled with several greeting cards. The cards inside have minimalist/generally likeable cover designs and are blank on the inside. I believe they're meant to be filled in & gifted to friends and loved ones... and I almost maybe would, except the back side says "Zinus" and has the logo and links to their site, and, idk... maybe this is just me, but, for me, if I'm receiving this card as a gift, I'm not feeling super special once I recognize (or don't recognize but then log on to the website and quickly learn about) the brand, and that they make furniture, and then piece together this cheap/lazy buddy of mine just gave me whatever they had lying around from some totally unrelated, not-for-me, probably-Amazon purchase... I would recommend to the brand: consider taking out the self-promotion on the back. I know, it seems to defeat much of the point of this nice touch, but, if there are many others like me, they ain't gifting these to people unless you take that out. And if I *could* gift these to people, I'd think, wow, cool brand. Very classy touch. (As it is, I find it classy then not classy then kind of classy then mostly confusing but still hope you keep it going with or without the logo etc.)

Impressive: easy to assemble, sturdy and attractive
I'm incredibly impressed with this bed platform. I ordered a Nectar mattress so I (thankfully) had to get rid of the old box spring and the stupid metal frame I had under it. 1) it was very nicely packaged. Double-boxed. All of the pieces (I got the cedar finish) were wrapped so they were fully protected from scratches, dings, etc. All pieces were in perfect condition. There were some styrofoam pieces in the box to help protect the frame, but those piece were wrapped in plastic so you didn't have styrofoam shrapnel all over the frame (or you, or the room). Brilliant! 2) very easy to assemble. The instructions are clear, the hardware is securely packaged, and all of the wood pieces are numbered. IKEA could learn a lot from them. They even give you an adorable ratchet wrench for it! I was able to assemble it by myself in about 15-20 minutes, and I wasn't rushing. 3) very sturdy platform, provides excellent support for the mattress. The slats are well secured so they won't slide. The platform has a thick leg at each corner, another leg in the middle of the long side, and a metal brace down the middle with 3 legs of its own - that's 9 points of support, if you don't do maths. 4) it's attractive - the wood finish is lovely, and it matches my other furniture very well. Well worth the money, and far better quality than I expected.

Solid wood frame at a good price!
I have been using this queen sized frame for 3 weeks now and must say that I am pleasantly surprised by it and would have no reservations recommending it to others. I was looking for a solid wooden slat frame for my soon to arrive bed in a box. I confess that some of the previous reviews for this product made me think twice before ordering, but I certainly am glad I did. The box arrived quickly through prime. Although there was a fair amount of damage to the one corner of the box which revealed the packing under it, the frame itself remained unscathed. Several other reviewers had similar experiences so I can only conclude that packing is sufficient enough to prevent anything serious from happening. The box is extremely heavy so I can understand why the damage occurs. (I felt rather bad for the delivery man). The box is roughly 90 pounds so make sure you either have help moving it or are willing to move it piece by piece to prevent injury. The product is well wrapped and everything you need to assemble it is included. All of the pieces were the correct length. (That was something I was concerned about after reading reviews. Some people had issues with the legs being different lengths so I checked them all before constructing the frame). Several reviews also stated that the instructions were rather vague. As long as you can read illustrations and know how the pieces are labeled, you should be fine. The only thing that seemed vague to me was the bar which goes from head to foot in the middle of the bed. One side of it had a black velvet strip running the length of it. That side faces up so when the slats are laid upon it, it prevents noise and movement. I put the frame together by myself and it took around ten minutes. The trick is not to tighten any screws until the entire frame is constructed. All the pre-drilled holes matched up well except the ones on the crossbar (which is the last piece installed). The holes for the crossbar were slightly off, not enough to make it an issue, but enough that I had to "pull" the bar a bit to line it up for the screws. Even before I had all the screws tightened, the frame was solid. The slats were the biggest concern for me as everyone had a different opinion on them. No one seemed to agree on the thickness, distance between, durability, etc. Here's my take on them (pic included). The slats were uniform. Slats are just under 3 inches in width with 2.5 inch spacing between each. They came in two bundles. One end slat from each bundle had holes drilled into it which lined up with pegs on the frame so there was no mistaking how to place the slats on the frame and the ends are secure. Velcro strips adhered on both ends of the slats hold the slats together and sync up with Velcro on the frame. This made it easy to lay them down as it kept them uniform in distance, flush to the frame, and prevented slippage/movement. There are two slats which have white stickers on them. Removing the stickers is supposed to make the two slats adhere to the bottom of the mattress. I decided not to remove the stickers as I rotate my mattress. My mattress is 89 pounds and I have not had it move on the slats unless I purposely move it. The frame is very sturdy. The queen size has 9 evenly spaced legs to support the weight of a mattress. I like the 2.5 inch spacing between the slats. I know many bed companies state up to 4 inches is acceptable, but I feel better with the 2.5 for warranty purposes and hope that it will make the frame more durable through the years. I know that the space beneath the bed is about 8 inches for me. I have no issues sliding my storage bins under which is a plus! (Just have to be aware that 3 support legs break up the space underneath). An added bonus is having my feet flat on the floor when I sit on the edge of the mattress. Great height for getting in and out of bed without struggling! For the price, you can't go wrong.

Review is for the twin size in rustic pine. The bed frame is solid, real wood as opposed to "re-engineered wood" from sawdust and glue. This makes it relatively light and strong. Everything fit together well, and of course they provide all fasteners, even some spares, and the wrench required to assemble the item. In fact they provide a small ratchet wrench making it even easier. The package arrived very well beaten up, scraped and dinged... but that was the outer layer. Then there was another box inside of double layer corrugated cardboard... it was also damaged. THEN there was yet another inner box of double corrugated cardboard which was only dinged in one place. Inside all of that was the product... not damaged at all. It was wrapped in foam, and spaces were filled with some kind of Styrofoam... but the Styrofoam was itself packaged in plastic bags so as not to fracture and fly all over the place. Extremely well packaged. One might ask how much of the price is for the packaging... but the item arrived unscathed. IMO this is a very good product, excellent packaging, highly recommended.

My husband and I bought 2 of these beds (full size) for our children. He put both of the beds together. He was impressed with how well the beds were carefully packaged in the boxes they came in. He said there was no damage on any of the pieces. The instructions were clear and easy to understand. We purchased Zinus Full Mattress - 12 Inch Green Tea Infused Memory Foam Mattresses to go with the wood beds and that was a perfect fit. Also, the beds (at least so far!) are not squeaky!
