Can this be used to make a closed loop stepper motor driver?

This is only a driver for the stepper motor. The CL42T is a closed loop version driver which integrates the stepper driver and encoder reader in one unit and resolves step errors. It connects to a stepper motor/encoder unit. Otherwise, you can use this as the driver, but will need a controller for encoder input to resolve step errors.

The product title says 10-30vdc, but the user manual says 18-30vdc. which is correct?

I tested at 10v. It works. Good to have a variable voltage bench supply to test these! I am running at 24v.

How can I connect this drive to a controller with a common cathode? Is it even possible? The controller has a common ground, but no common anode.

Unfortunately, unlike the DM542, these have the anode connected together in a common-anode configuration. You will need to use an inverter if using active-high pulse or direction signals, or invert the signal in the software.

My dm320t i bought last year works fine. for the new pieces this year the motor only moving to "home". it seems the not working. can you advise?

Check output from controller, high- CW, low-CCW. Or vise versa depending on coil winding wiring. If high/ low signals are ok... drive is bad.

It was easy to wire a standalone test and confirm that the controller does what is promised. It allows microstepping and current limits for a smooth and precise drive. The setup is well displayed in a silk screened table on the case. It looks very professional for the buck. Strongly recommended

I've been using two of their models for several months running a custom assembly machine. These things are durable and easy to use. I drive them with a Rapsberry Pi with the GPIOzero library. Code them as an LED and use the toggle() command to step them. Using the Raspberry Pi requires a level shift from 3.3 to 5V. The Texas Instruments CD74ACT541 line driver chip works flawlessly for this. Just power the chip with 5V. 3.3V signals from the Pi go in one side, 5V signals go out the other to the stepper driver.
