This is a neat little device. Really convenient to have both coax and optical S/PDIF TOSlink input options, plus an output volume control, plus output 3.5mm jack for headphones and RCA stereo jacks. Both headphone jack and RCA jack outputs can be used at the same time. Turned all the way up I hear no distortion. Quality build, aluminum as advertised. I'm using this connected to a music keyboard with optical 44.1kHz, 24bit, PCM. Works great. From the manual it says "This adapter is incompatible with 5.1 channel signal such as Dolby AC3, please set the audio output to PCM or LPCM.", which makes sense since it's only outputting to two-channel stereo, and you might need to change your audio settings if you're using this with a PlayStation or Blu-ray/DVD player, etc.

I had a similar product to this but it didn't have volume adjustment, the audio was fine but too quiet. This product has completely solved that issue. I use mine with an optical cord plugged directly into a PS3, the volume can now get much louder which is perfect. Pretty wild that this thing is as cheap as it is, highly recommended because if you're looking for something like this, you probably know what you need it for and I find it hard for anyone to be disappointed with this thing. It can also be used with TVs that have an optical port but no headphone jack. I'm not sure if I'll ever use the coaxial cable but it's nice to have it.

On my Samsung TV I leave the speakers on and can turn them down or mute without effecting the volume of converter. I ran the stereo outputs to a small amplifier with an earphone jack. Now I can listen to the TV with headphones without disturbing others. The quality of the optic cable plugs could be a little better but other than that it works great!

I moved into a house built in 1997 with surround sound hooked up already through the walls and used old analog, I hooked up my new samsung tv and it sounds amazing! at first it wasn't working and I was just using the tv sound and then all of the sudden I later noticed it was on after watching for like 30 minutes. I don't know when It turned on but never have had a problem since! It's been like a month as well. and that is probably just the sound box controller, not this product.

Thank you for the volume button. The last one I ordered didn’t have one (different company) I attached a long earphone extension cord and multi earphone attachment to that and it didn’t effect the volume or quality of this product. The other one I ordered was made by a different manufacturer and didn’t have a volume button (the sound was quite muted).

This is my second one. The first one stopped holding the power connection when I inadvertently forgot I still had my headphones on and tried to walk away from my desk pulling the whole thing off. The audio quality is great and I like the ability to adjust the volume on the front.

My TV doesn’t have RCA out, only optical. My stereo receiver doesn’t have optical in, only RCA. This cheap box saved me from buying a new stereo receiver. Audio quality has been fine, with no discernible delay. Obviously only good for 2-channel stereo.

Bought this for my headphones thinking this is a long shot if they don’t work I’m not out much, THIS FIXED them , they work now, saving me almost 200.00 for a new set .
