Ancient Cookware, Mexican Clay Flat Cazuela Pot, Large, 6 Quarts

Bought this cazuela and a smaller deeper one for beans . Just like in Mexico and lead free. Followed directions and rubbed raw garlic inside and out on glazed surfaces and then slowly boiled down water to season both . Made beans yesterday in smaller pot. Pinto ( soaked a few hours ) changed water ; added a medium/small onion halved to pot and a clove of garlic and a green serrano chile whole- just pierced a small cut with sharp knife ..a small cap full of vegetable oil ( just a small amount ; like a teaspoon ) Stated on low flame to warm up cazuela and then slowly increased heat to bring to a slow simmer/ bubble .. slow and easy makes the beast beans. In this ( above) larger cazuela I plan to make arroz con pollo - Cuban style . recipes online.. Mexican ; Cuban ; Puerto Rican arroz con pollo recipes..

Pot is lead free, large, beautiful, easy to clean and great tasting food. I love my pot. Inexpensive and will last forever if taken care of. Can be handed down. Big enough to make large pots of soups too.

Wife loved this works good . To cure , Rub with garlic then fill with water boil off the water and ur ready to go

This pot will break after the 2nd use.We follow the instructions!!!Use it with low flame, but it does not work.It is a beautiful piece of ornament, but not a cookware!!!!

This is a handmade clay bakeware and the lid is expected to not completely fit with the pot rim. However, I didn’t expect such a mismatch that allows the water to evaporate through relatively fast. I have two more ceramic cazuela frim Spain and this is not an issue. Otherwise, the clay quality and flaze are well made.

Overall it's a great piece, my mom loved it, but the lid was from another cazuela and didn't fit quite as well. Plus it wasn't the same color as the cazuela.

My Cazuela is wonderful! Totally met my expectations. It is a beautiful piece of craftsmanship that provides all the functionality needed for cooking authentic Mexican recipes in. I am so pleased with the product that I plan on purchasing additional cookware.
