No More Hot Spoon
I used hot spoons on mosquito bites for years, heating them over the stovetop. My wife always thought it was weird, but I assured her it was effective. So one day she found the Bite Helper and gave it to me as a gift.I was skeptical that this thing could do what my hot spoons did—especially since the sellers seemed to be highly promoting the vibration aspect (which I don’t think does anything). But it works wonderfully. It’s such a convenient, portable device (unlike spoons and stoves), and it gets to just the right temperature to be effective without burning. It gets hot enough to hurt a little. Just right :-) . You always have to be careful with hot spoons! If you are skeptical about this thing (and perhaps folk remedies in general), good for you. It took me a long time to be convinced that the hot spoon technique really worked. But I kept doing it every time I had a bite bugging me, and it just kept working every time. I am strongly convinced it is not a placebo effect. It’s too… well, effective. I don’t clam to know the mechanism for why it works, but I read once that the heat is thought to kill the proteins in the bite that cause the itching response. In my experience, it does nothing to make the actual swelling or redness of bites go away. It just kills the itch.Lastly, my wife and kids, who all thought I was weird for using hot spoons, are all big fans of the Bite Helper now, too.

lOVE THIS!!!
I had one of these and lost it in our move. I've been looking all over for it and finally bit the bullet and bought another! Thank goodness!!! The Mosquitos have been out and this is the ONLY thing that helps me and my son. It actually works really well.

Heat works only for certain types of bites
I am severely allergic to all kinds of bug bites—they make me itch like crazy. This pen works by applying height heat for a couple of seconds. Sometimes high heat actually makes my bites itch worse—not better. It depends upon the type of bug bite I get. For mosquito bites, the heat of this pen is a little helpful. But the best of all for a mosquito bite is to simply not scratch because they usually stop itching on their own if I can just resist the scratching which makes them a lot worse.Heat, including this pen’s heat, makes a bed bug bite even worse.I really think that itching and reactions to bites is individual to the person, so each person’s experience with this heat pen could be a little different.I write honest reviews to help others make informed purchases because I read reviews myself and appreciate how helpful they can be. I hope that my review helped you.

Don't waste your money
This is the first time I purchased something on Amazon that doesn't allow returns. I had used a different brand before which really worked(bite away) but my daughter lost it. There was only one down side to my old one, the heating element kind of small. So when I was shopping for a new one I came across this Bite Helper which states the heating element is 5 times bigger then its competitors. I was thinking, WOW! That's PERFECT! but I was wrong. It would have been awesome if it really worked. The old one I had heats up in 3 seconds with one press of a button with the option of a 3 second or 5 second treatment. This one, you have to hold the button for about 45 seconds to 1 minute and doesn't even get close the the heat I was getting from my old one. Not sure if its because this one has a metal heating element and the previous one I had was ceramic. The only difference is that this one vibrates while it is heating(To me it just makes noise and doesn't help the bug bite at all). Overall, this Bite Helper is time consuming and not affective. I wanted to return this one and just repurchase the one that I use to have but found out that this item is not eligible for returns. The listing states "Return policy: Eligible for Refund or Replacement" but when I tried to start a return/replacement. The system just gives me an error message "This item isn't eligible for return" and it doesn't even give me the option to contact the seller or request for refund/replacement either. The only reason I gave it a 2 star instead of 1 is for the size of the heating element. I really wished it worked. This was just a waste of time and Money($40 down the drain).

Not A Functional Unit
Received in good condition. Put new batteries in it but all it would do is vibrate and turn on a light. Wasn't easy to get a refund, but eventually did. Upon close examination, the unit I was sent appears to be a demo possibly. There's little more than a small light and vibration device inside. Nothing that would warm up the metal pad. They're ripping people off with this one. Glad Amazon eventually caved and refunded. The normal refund process stated that the item wasn't refundable. But that's not what was advertised on their product page. I had to start a chat with Amazon to get the refund. Not Recommended.
