The THUMBUSTERS is a great new device a child wears on their hand as a reminder not to thumb suck. We suggest wearing the THUMBUSTERS at those difficult times like bedtime, while watching T.V. or even school! The THUMBUSTERS is an extremely comfortable glove-like device which is worn on the thumb and easily attaches around the wrist. Made of Lycra, this material breathes and is safe. Recommended for children ages 5-12 who want to stop sucking their thumb but need a little reminder at times. THUMBUSTERS empowers your child to stop on their own instead of needing constant reminders from adults. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It works!
Although I do a lot of online shopping, I rarely take the time to write reviews for the products that I purchase. I felt compelled to take the time to review this product because my daughter has had so much success in such a short amount of time while using the Thumbuster. My daughter will be six years old in two months. She has been a thumb-sucker since she was a small baby, and her thumb-sucking was a deeply ingrained habit. It was negatively affecting her teeth, and we were worried about all of the germs that went into her body as a result of thumb constantly being in her mouth. We were also worried about her being made fun of at school for her thumb-sucking.We had tried books, incentive charts, puppets, etc. to thwart her thumb-sucking, but to no avail. After her last dentist appointment, I came home and searched online for a product to help with her thumb-sucking. I came across the Thumbuster and figured it was worth giving it a try. When I first introduced it to my daughter, she was very resistant to trying it. I didn't force it on her, and I let her warm up to the idea of using it. When she decided to try it out, she instantly became a fan of the Thumbuster. She loved the pink color and the comfort of the product. She began to wear it around the house, playing, reading, watching tv, and at night to sleep. She loved the chart that came with it. We used stickers to celebrate each day that she wore the Thumbuster, and rewarded her with a trip for frozen yogurt at the end of the first week and a toy that she has been wanting after the second week.We are now 2.5 weeks in, and we haven't seen her sucking her thumb since she began using the Thumbuster! Our daughter had a serious thumb-sucking habit, so I still cannot believe how quickly and effectively this product has worked. We have been blown away by how much our daughter likes the product and how motivated she is to wear it and keep it on.I agree with some of the other reviews that say that it is overpriced for what it is. That being said, I have absolutely no regrets about buying this product and I would highly recommend it.

This product did not work for my child
My daughter subconsciously sucks her thumb only while she is sleeping. We broke the habit during the day a while ago, but it still happens at night. I put this on her last night and she woke up with her thumb in her mouth. Ideally I would like to return it since it did not work for her, but I don’t see that option.

Helpful but Only If the Child Is Willing
This glove is great if your child is already motivated to stop thumb sucking. It helps cut down on those unconscious, involuntary moments, which has been a big help for us. My child actually wants to stop, so she tries to keep it on and it serves as a reminder. However, if your child isn't ready or trying on their own, it's easy to pull down or remove. The material is thin and not very durable—after one wash, it looked like it might fall apart. So while it’s not super sturdy, it can work well as a temporary aid for a motivated child. It did fit on my 6 yr old perfectly and it's designed to allow the child to put it on and off with one hand.

Does Its Job but Not Great
Our daughter (25 months) loves her thumb cover. It's a good thing I bought multiples, because she wanted one on the other hand as a fashion accessory. It does its job as a reminder not to suck, but I am not particularly impressed with it. Having said that, I'd buy it again, because there isn't much else out there to compare it to. (I did buy the Dr. Thumb guard, too, but it takes so long to show up that she has stopped sucking her thumb and the freakin' thing still isn't here - $30 down the drain.)Pros:- Will fit a real range of kids because it's so stretchy - it says it's for 5-12 year olds, but it doesn't fall off our 2 year old's hand, although it is loose- It's comfortable - doesn't restrict movement or play at all (she clearly forgets it's there)- It's breathable - we were using Band-aids, but they were starting to damage her skin, because they restrict airflow and make her thumb sweaty- Kids like them and are therefore willing to wear them without a fight- Comes with a sticker chart (you supply the stickers) - my daughter is so proud of herself when she puts on a sticker every morningCons:- Lycra material looks ratty and worn very quickly, especially where the Velcro catches on it- Velcro closure snags sleeves- Expensive - for what it is, these are ridiculously priced, because you need multiples for washing and inevitable misplacement (we have 3)- The child has to be mentally prepared to stop - it's easily removed or they can just suck over it
