experience tells us there is no perfect bed pan. However, the designers of this one were smart enough to round out all the edges and leave no sharp or straight edges that can cause damage to the skin. there are reinforcements to support the top of the bed pan so it keeps its shape. My wife has found this to be the most comfortable bed pan we have tried. no it will not last forever, but the price does not indicate it will. We have reordered two more to have on hand as not worrying about skin abrasions and the comfort of using this one is paramount. buy with confidence.

This bedpan is so flimsy it did just as expected when used...it collapsed. The Lincoln town car of bed pans'. No thin sharp edges and the wide rim makes those more urgent calls more comfortable. I had just come home from 4 months of continuous stays in rehab & hospital. Not being able to stand or walk my only option was the bedpan. Now, I am a large woman, just over 300lbs, so those cheaper institutional type bedpans were murder - I had cut, scrapes, bruises and bouts of breakdown as a result. When I got home and still being stuck in a hospital bed, i saw this here on Amazon & had to order it, even though money is extremely tight, it was worth every penny for the comfort it provides during those personal & sometimes unpleasant toileting moments. It is also not a problem being placed on or taken off of because of the wider rims.

I love the smoothness and it being contoured for a lady's 'bottom'. However, don't put your weight down hard on your tush! The back side of the pan is very comfortable, but it slopes back & is a bit shallow, and well... the pan didn't keep liquid in totally. I do love that it's light weight & nicely contoured, but 'ladies, remember to lift your tush up a bit to prevent spillage!'
