i like it. almost didnt get into the series
The 1% spell failure chance is the reason i almost didnt get into it. But everything else is a fun Overlord-esk theme. The main has expectations to live up to. and his presteige and postion of a normal man trying to live up to it is the fun.

So much love for classic tabletop gaming
The best thing about the Magic User series has been how lovingly it treats classic D&D (or, excuse me, "D&B"). It's plain to see that the author is a tried and true roleplayer, and the attention to those details makes the main character all the more relatable to anyone who shares the hobby. Volume 2 was every bit as good as the first, and I can't wait to see where the story goes from here.

Entertaining sequel continues the world-building and growth
The use of AD & D 1st edition / Jack Vance magic continues to make the magic feel different from most isekai. In spots the MC hasn't had time to memorize spells for the day and must do what he can with what spells he has left.Otherwise, he grows a little as a person and strengthens his connections in his new world, and has an adventure or two. There's nothing ground-breaking here but it's done well and enjoyable to read.

Super fun read!
If you love table-top RPGs, or manga, or just a good story, then definitely read this series. You get to escape into a world where the main character is always asking himself how best to use his huge power and huge responsibility, which always leaves you wondering what you would do in his place. Not to mention the fact that there are some pretty epic fights. 👍🏻👍🏻
