Louis L'Amour is a delightful author. He said he rode every trail and camped in every spot that is referenced in the books he wrote. The Sackett stories are so well written. My Grandmother came West in a wagon train. From her stories I have recognized places that L'Amour writes about, and yet his story line gives us heroes and a real sense of what people went through to get this great land of ours settled. Everything he writes has truth in it and that makes it all the more interesting to me. I have read almost all of his books, and have read every one of the Sackett Books, and the ones about their relatives. If you are a Western fan, these books will give you satisfaction. His story telling is wonderful and takes me away from the present. This book gives us a female hero and she represents every woman that came west in those days. The folks in this story were not wimpy. I think I have read this book about a dozen times, at least. I never get tired of it.

I have enjoyed Louis L’Amour’s writing for many years. He grasps the ideology of the frontier as few others have. Every book and every story of his I have read and reread for years. Good fiction interests me , but Louis’ stories transcend the reality of good fiction and I have never read one that doesn’t cause me to want to be there where the stories live.

I love this author. He opened my imagination of adventures and cowboys and stuff. I gave this as a gift to my nephew hoping he too will have that spirit of adventure I got from this author.

I'm still, if not more, enjoying the Sacketts. These books are just plain fun to read. There hasn't been a single time I read for less than an hour and actually more then an hour. Louis L'Amour continues to place in my mind exactly where he wants it. You find yourself even hearing the leaves rustling.I'm not going to spoil any of this review telling about the story. I'm just going to say "Enjoy".

Great depth behind each character. Most everything worked as I expected them to.But what happened to young girl Logan had with him?

Always the best read when reading L’Amours books. I could read each of his novels over and over again many times over. I love his detailed description of everything in the Wild West, from how someone tracks another to how to ride herd.

Logan tells it like it is, he's a Clinch Mountain Sackett and they are a handful for their enemies and they always seem to have someone to fight. This is the first Sackett book I ever read and when Louis Lamour was describing the ride down that dark trail at night in the storm he was at his best, never better, made me feel like I was on that mountain trail in that storm with the girl clinging on behind the saddle! What a great start to a story!

A quick and pleasant read , although the logic in the plot defies credibility. Never riveting.

Classic Sackett tale of upright loner dealing with wrongs in his inimitable way. Great read! Some interesting descriptions and asides in the course of the tale.

I always enjoy the L'Amour writing and this is as good as it gets. Pure escapism with a clear message.
