A rhyme packed with all sorts of snippets, but, for me, a disappointing presentation (paperback ed.)
Bearing in mind that the general message here is about the importance of trees and what we can do to help protect them, as is explained towards the back, I was still nevertheless disappointed with the quality of this paperback edition that I have had my eye on for a while, but couldn’t justify the RRP.‘Printed in Great Britain, by Amazon’, I am hopeful that the ‘on sale’ copy I received is simply a poor print run, for the thin cover is flimsy and there is a general warp to the whole book. The mediocre quality, matte-finish pages are not cut square, so there is white showing at the bottom of all of them, too. From the back cover (image below refers):🍁~ ‘This unique picture book is vibrant, rhyming and educational. It introduces children to the unbreakable bond between people and trees.Children will fall in love with nature and will become Protectors of the Trees.Mindful stories for kids create a brighter and calmer future, one child at a time.’🍂The short stock video above gives an idea of the content, along with the ‘READ SAMPLE’ (if the link works), to see if it is the style for you & yours.ooOooThe picture book measures roughly 21.5 cm square with 32 pages, the rhyme running over 22 in double-page spread format.Said rhyme (which uses ‘fall’ rather than ‘autumn’) packs a lot of words in and is challenging to fit in in one breath, at times! Educational, it is also quite complex in places, so it is difficult to put an age guide on the content generally.Chunkier words, which may need further explanation, include:~ appreciate~ converting~ oxygen~ communicating~ nutrients~ unfriendly~ two-time king (Charles the Second/Civil War)~ captors~ gratitudeThe pictures are not as vibrant as the current stock images portray, but these may be from the hardback edition, which I assume, is better quality. The main text is a reasonable size in black throughout, albeit a little tricky to read on the darker backgrounds, in poor light. Key words/phrases are sometimes in colour for emphasis or to draw the eye. The font varies in such cases. There is a ‘Can you spot the tree?’ exercise (12 types from the pictures) across a double-page spread at the back + the aforementioned ‘How can we help?’, which lists ‘five ways you can protect the trees every day.’The final page is a note from the author, who likes 'receiving letters, drawings and pictures' (email address provided), along with a reminder of some of her other book titles.

Excellent for very young children
A beautifully illustrated book which explains clearly scientific facts about trees and the importance of them in our lives. Even the very young, three years old love this book.

A beautiful, emotional book to help your kids connect with trees and nature in general!
A beautiful book about trees, written with delicate elegance and so much sensitivity for the vital role nature plays in our lives. Powerful words blend with gorgeous illustrations, offering a story full of mindfulness and emotion. My daughter fell in love with this book, enjoying every bit. It helped her understand more about nature and why we need to protect trees. We read the book over and over again, and I was glad that she asked so many questions. Early education is key to raising kids who fight for a greener planet, who understand the unbreakable bond between people and trees, seeking nature to center themselves. If there is a book that will help young readers get closer to the great outdoors, this is it. I think stories like this one also contribute to a healthy mindset for the future, not to mention it has a great educational value. The author has included some of the most common trees, teaching kids how to recognize them. Moreover, she has added a lot of interesting facts, making it easy for both parents and teachers to use her story as a teaching resource.Reading this book to my daughter, I noticed the beautiful lines, and how the author’s love for nature shined throughout the story. She places an emphasis on the connection with nature, the individuality of each season, and how getting in touch with nature can help us feel calmer and more relaxed.Children can learn about trees and how they produce oxygen. At the same time, they are taught to relate to the breathing process, and discover for themselves the benefits it offers. Climate awareness is explored, and I liked how the author said it is “not too late to fix it”. I agree, it all depends on the generation we are raising now.She also speaks of how trees offer us nuts, fruits, and wood; how we can have fun with trees and spot the wildlife living around them. Kids can learn how long trees live and even discover interesting stories about them, stories that happened years ago. At the end of the book, there are some cool worksheets, which I am sure kids will love.As a parent, I am always on the lookout for books that can help me teach my daughter about the world. I absolutely loved this book, not only because I was able to bring her closer to nature and trees, but also because beautiful stories allow us, parents, to create a stronger bond with our children. Highly recommended!

our kind friends
The trees do lots of things to us more than we ever imagined and we don’t treat them with love. What a shame to all the folks practicing deforestation.
