CrestronAM-101 Video Conversion & Connectivity

This really does work for all connections!!We installed in into our meeting room. I have an HDMI splitter that connect to this Crestron Airmedia and it splits the video on to one projector and two LED TV's we have mounted around the room. Anyone who comes in can use their iPad, Android, Windows or Mac to connect to it. We just plug the Airmedia into our network and everyone else connects to the wifi in the building. They can then either download the app or use their PC and go to an internet web address, run the small app and their desktop it copied onto the screen.You also have the option of viewing up to 4 different machines on the screen in the 4 corners. All over the wifi!!The only issue I have seen is that there are some problems with iOS8 on the iPad's. It will show the presentation on the screen, but if we try to slide to the next page, it'll drop the connection and we have to reconnect. This is APPLE's fault, not Crestron's. Seems to be something in the iOS 8. if you still have iOS 7 it'll work just fine.Keep in mind, this does NOT work like the Apple TV. It will NOT show your iPad's home screen with all the apps on the screen. You have to use the Crestron app to open the pics and/or documents/powerpoints for it to view.Using it with a laptop seems to be the best option. This WILL mirror your PC's desktop on the screen. Works best in this situation!!

I have four AirMedia units at my company which I purchased at the same time and they consistently have issues sporadically freezing. Issues spanning from freezing for 30-60 seconds to having to completely disconnect and reconnect and usually only to freeze again. Like the other reviewer said, heed the warning. You can only get support by having a certified Crestron tech come out which is ridiculous. To spend $1k+ on a piece of hardware and have to pay someone a trip fee and 2 hr minimum to spend 5 minutes doing something a monkey can do is a joke. Save yourself the frustration, evaluate what you really "need" this product for and find another solution. Clickshare, Mersive Solstice, HDMI cable etc etc.

Not very impressed with this device. I made the mistake of buying this from Amazon instead of direct through Crestron so that I could have a chance to evaluate it and its competitors without the additional sales pressure from the rep. It needed a firmware update and of coarse, they lock you in to needing a tech. to update this? I don't like businesses that prevent customers from maintaining their own equipment. I happened to somehow find the updated firmware on Crestron's website that happened to not be locked behind their vendor/reseller restricted site and flashing the device was no different than flashing the firmware on any other device. I demoed a Mersive Solstice and found it to be superior to Crestron's presentation gateway in many respects. Performance leaves much to be desired. I'm sure there are tweaks that I can apply on my network to help with this, but the Mersive performed much better out of the box. I think I'll pass.

The units work well. I am Also Crestron Certified. The freezing issue is usually caused by older firmware. The latest firmware should solve that issue.

This is a great product but, word of warning! You get zero support from Crestron if you are not an authorized dealer / reseller. I've learned the hard way. Purchased two. Both need firmware upgrades and Crestron says I have to get a licensed technician to work on this. It's so easy to set up and very intuitive interface. Why do they lock it down?
