Buy these.
We'll start with the cons first:- You have to know either the height of the object you're looking at or the distance to it to find out the other. It's not a point-and-shoot rangefinder, if that's what you want.- They're a little chunky. Size is biggish, weight is a little on the high end for backpacking. That said, the pros:- These are spectacular binoculars. Easily read a street sign at a hundred yards like it was 20 feet away. Could probably double that range comfortably. Can pick out details of a car well enough to tell what make and model it is (if you can do so by sight normally, without reading the badging) at a full mile.- Have not tested the waterproofing yet, but the way they're put together, I don't doubt they are in the slightest.- While the rangefinder is kinda crap, the compass is insanely handy and is designed to minimize unnecessary battery usage.- Easy to focus.- Despite their weight when you're holding them, they seem almost weightless in their carrying case. Go figure. But the biggest pro is that their customer service is spectacular. Mine arrived with a very minor issue, and it was immediately taken care of, above and beyond my expectations. These are perfect for birding, camping, stargazing, or hiking. Their weight is offset easily by their usefulness in orienting yourself to a distant target using the internal compass, and being able to choose a path well in advance.10/10, would absolutely buy again.

Optics are crystal clear
Nice Binoculars with extra features at a budget price. I like the way they feel in the hands, not too heavy. I prefer the stiff adjustment to hold fast when taking a sight on a moving deck. "I 've seen complaints about this on other reviews?". The compass is spot on so far and the night illumination for the compass is fantastic. Out of the box, they are a good sturdy set of binoculars, let's see how they hold up on the water.

Bought Steiner Bincoulars for triple the price too.
I have both, the ESSL product and Steinier Navigator Pro (German Mfg’er). I figured some on else on the boat might like to take a look too. So some thoughts:Cost: ESSL ~$125,vs. Steiner ~$400Performance: The ESSL performs >80% as well (arbitrary assesment not based on science)Some thoughts: The difference is in the little finish details, as you would expect the German product represents extreme quality, fit finish, every detail is pure BMW like. The ESSL image clarity is very good approaching that of the Steiner, light gathering of the Steiner is superior (viewing at dusk or night I grab the Steiner). Both are waterproof and float so they say. I do not plan to “test” this but am hoping if we drop them off the boat, they can be recovered., I can

Clear and bright with a wide field of view. My favorite binocs!
Excellent for boating, low light conditions, wild life viewing. Wider field of view than my other 7x50 binoculars. Impressive optics!

So disappointing- Not worth it!
Don’t waste your time with these..I liked these when they arrived. I liked that they came with the case and the floating neck strap. After 2 years of excellent care-I always use the covers & protect I’ve case. Never leave them out in the sun. I have probably used them about 20 times. To my surprise, the silicone eyepieces have gone to shreds. Such a shame. I had my last pair for about 10 years. I don’t expect binoculars at this price point to fall to pieces after 2 years of light use. Waste of materials. Would not buys again.

pretty sad
Pros:Solid structure and aesthetically very pleasant.Nice and accurate rangefinder.Good, clear focus in sunny weather.Great for glassing in a sunny weatherWill last for sure.Cons:Not much light is going through them in twilight hours or even during cloudy overcast. Its like blurry and very dull. My 10X25 other binoculars a way way superior to this product even though its not supposed to be this way due to the 50 lens.Compass is about 15-20 degrees off.Not sure if I will keep it. Total misleading advertisement about the lens quality. Disappointed.

Best Binoculers Ever
We are taking making the crossing across the Gulf Stream from Fl to Bimini and I bought these as a safety protocol but they are awesome! By far the best binoculars I've ever owned or used. I think some how the view is more clear then just looking through my eyes. Highly Recommended
