The xtase may be better.
Is an improvement over stock speakers but not enough. Other reviews are very detailed on how just changing the speakers will fix VW's sound system with no other changes. The sound is better than stock speakers but not that much. The xtase may be better.

Outstanding - completely new experience for car music
The speakers are outstanding. They make it possible to hear sounds extremely clearly which gives you a completely different experience from other car loudspeakers that I had before, even in very expensive cars. They produce crisp and clear sounds from all instruments as well as deep bass. They even make it more enjoyable to listen to talk programsIt is kind of funny, but I had a car radio specialist to install them (it was probably not needed). When I picked up the car, they were very excited to tell me about their experience as these were the best loudspeakers they had installed. I only bought loudspeakers for the front - to begin - and they already make a great difference. The guys at the car radio shop tried to turn off the back speakers to experience only the clear sound and being distorted be the speakers in the back (the ones that came with the car). The owner of the radio shop was going to recommend these speakers to other demanding customer of their company as they did not have similar items from their suppliers. I strongly recommend these speakers to anyone who enjoys listening to music in their car. They are worth every penny and a lot more.
