Liquid Fence has been very effective at deterring deer damage. Tested it on several flower locations where deer grazed regularly. They stopped coming to the treated plants and began munching on other varieties that were nearby. Treating these new munchies resulted in deer skipping my location. Concerns are twofold. As outlined in the directions the initial application is very stinky and disgusting. However overnight the odor subsides. For about 5 days following I could smell the treated areas, but the odor levels were slight and not really noticeable. The deer certainly could smell it and they are staying away. My only real complaint relates to the packaging and not the product. The container comes with a small trigger spray head that fits on a straw extending into the liquid. It worked for about 15 minutes and stopped dispensing. Trying to troubleshoot a stinky liquid is something you don't want to undertake anywhere near habitation. The stench worked it's way through my nitrile gloves and soon I smelled like a sewer backing up. I had to abandon the rinky-dink spray head and order something more capable online. This stuff has a really pungent and unpleasant smell but does seem to work for most part. Be sure to wear gloves and be careful where you spray, especially on a windy day. When sprayed on the plant, it leaves a unappealing white residue. I've had desperately hungry deer still eat the flower petals sprayed with this repellant but for most part, it does seem to work well enough. If it rains, you definitely need to reapply to maintain its effectiveness. I like to spray around ground near the plant rather than the plants themselves to prevent the white residue. It seems to work just as well.

Advertised for deer and rabbits but works on all animals (squirrels, groundhogs, etc.) that terrorize plantings and pots, to this I can attest. All daily digging abruptly stopped in sprayed areas. The built-in sprayer is weak so I bought a 1-gal Solo tank sprayer just for this; I refresh after a substantial period of rain. To their sensitive noses it smells like a predator kill zone, like decomposing flesh, but it does not overwhelm human olfactory senses. Winner.

I bought the 32oz product directly from a local hardware store and it worked so well to keep rabbits from eating my plants, I have tried two separate times to buy the 1 Gallon version on Amazon. The first one arrived leaking all over, which was unpleasant given the smell. The second one just arrived and now the nozzle will not actually spray (yes, I checked to ensure it was twisted to the "on" position). I will go back to buying the smaller 32oz from my local hardware store.

It works if you use it as directed. However the spray guns NEVER work. I’ve bought this multiple times with the spray attachment and either they do not work right out of the gate or they stop working before the bottle is done. I always have to transfer it to a spray bottle and that is smelly, annoying work, especially when it is supposed to have that feature built in.

1. This product only works when sprayed regularly. If it rains, you have to spray again. If it's sunny, you can go quite awhile (although i still spray every few days just to be safe) 2. DO NOT SPRAY any other time than early morning or evening. If you spray mid day, your plants WILL burn. We live in neighborhood where there are A LOT of deer. During my evening walks, I see herds of 20 at a time. They aren't scared of humans and there's so little food for them here that they will eat anything....even the supposedly deer resistant stuff. They decimated my fig trees, my grape vines, raspberry and blackberries, flower garden and star jasmine. Every morning I'd find the same deer in my yard and any new growth would be gone. Since spraying this stuff, I haven't seen them in my yard nor seen them eat anything. My grape vines finally have new growth again. My only regret is not using this stuff sooner before the deer destroyed every attempt I made at having a garden.

Just buy it! Used correctly you can have a yard full of foliage and flowers with no destruction from deer and rabbits. This stuff is like gold in the garden community. I have used if faithfully for the last 5 years and prior to that I fought wildlife eating everything in my yard!
