The compressor in my freezer made clicking noises and was hot. The start device was defective. This unit worked great, repairing the issue. I now have one in stock to avoid emptying the freezer if something doesn't work.

GE fridge stopped working. At the time I was frustrated and contemplated wheeling the broken fridge out to the street. After calming down, I looked up YouTube troubleshooting vids. Changed out the relay switch and I'm back in business! TY

My subzero fridge (freezer side) was clicking on and off constantly and it would not kick on very often any more. I tested both this unit and the capacitor and found the capacitor not working. Ordered this kit to fix it after I verified a "good" capacitor worked with the old start device. Got this next day and tried to install it. The start device and capacitor come assembled and you just slip it over the power connections directly on the compressor. It takes a little bit of elbow grease but it's easy. The main problem is the electrical clips on the replacement device are too small and the opening for the clips is also too small. They provide replacement power connectors for you to splice onto the old wiring (you have to cut it) but they send you ones that wont fit your stock wiring (crimp hole is 20ga while stock wiring is 16ga) - AND the connection side still doesn't fit inside the opening as you can see in my picture. Instead of cutting into my OEM harness I just took needle nosed pliers and broke off the plastic clips inside the opening to make it wider and allow the original connectors to connect. 48hrs in my freezer is holding -5F fine. Does this product work? Yes. Is it a direct replacement? Yes but with modifications. It's cheap enough to replace every year too.

The part works. It fixed the refrigerator. Was easy to order, it arrived fast and the price was good. $20.00 was a lot better than buying a new refrigerator or paying to have someone come out to fix it. Thanks!

my repairman went to install it and it was defective. ive been without a Refriderator since the Derecho that went through last week. on top of that i upgraded to Amazon 2 day delivery and not only did it NOT arrive on the expected date it was LATE!!!! I hate Amazon. you cant talk to anyone and they better not put it back on a gift card because i have to buy the part again. i expect it to be cheap knock off plastic but when you want it done right i guess you have to pay a bit more to find quality.. I DO NOT RECOMMEND.. NOR DO I RECOMMEND AMAZON PRIME..
