302B Angle Air Die Grinder, 20,000 rpm, 0.33 hp, 1/4" Collet, Rear Exhaust

I am a professional mechanic, many of my pnuematic tools are Snap On brand. I have used and experienced Ingersol Rand over the years though and I believe they make solid options that are more affordable. A right angle die grinder has been on KY bucket list for quite some time, so when I saw this I got it. It feels good in my hand and functions well, it looks pretty clean as too. I will use it with plastic attachments mainly for cleaning off old gasket materials.

I used to work in a welding shop where everyone had their own personal angle die grinders equipped with a 2 or 3 inch 3M Roloc grinding disc. I have borrowed from co-workers everything from $400+ Dynabrade Industrial Grade die grinders down to $10 ebay crap and have concluded that the best bang-for-the-buck is this 302B. I bought a IR 302B a few years ago and sold it after I left the welding business. Now, I am setting up my own personal welding shop and bought another one because I know I will need one, and I know that this one will exceed my needs. I have to admit, if I had the cash, I would buy the Dynabrade because it is the MOST AMAZING GRINDER ON EARTH, but in all seriousness, I can buy 5 302B's for that money. Also, I have to say that I have never had the opportunity to use an AirCat 6255, but I would really like to because they claim to be the quietest air tools... I wonder what kind of torque they have?

I’m glad that I went with brand name tool because it seems to use less air to run. Some of cheaper units consume so much air that compressor can’t keep up. I’m comparing with HF brand tools. So far in testing this IR die grinder is working perfect. I use it in restoring my older CJ Jeeps to get in corners with either 2” discs or burr grinder attachments. This is a handy tool to have when working metal or most any materials. I would recommend buying.

Love it. Works great. Just not always happy with the safety latch.

This IR die grinder is built for long life, has plenty of power, operates at high RPM, feels good in your hand, and was at an excellent price point. I’ve used it for over 20 hours already, and haven’t found anything bad about it, other than I hate the locking paddle switch. I’ve removed the locking mechanism so no more problems;-)

It's a good brand product. High quality. If I were to change anything I like the trigger to be a little more as sensitive so I can get some in between speeds and power.

IR is always high quality and dependable. The only thing that I wish is that they would of put flats on all four sides of the chuck to make it easier to change bits.
