Edit to Add: Customer service reached out and was eager to make it right. EXCELLENT CUSTOMER SERVICE.I purchased this as a Christmas gift in December. After going through all the steps for activation (including adding credit card for monthly service fee) the watch never activated and was NEVER operational. I returned it was refunded but 4 months later I'm still getting charged for services never rendered. I disputed it the first month it happened. Thought it had been resolved but to my surprise, confusion and anger I'm still getting charged. Product not worth the hassle!

We purchased this watch for our son, as his first mobile device. We were attracted to the fact that it had GPS for tracking and we could use our own Speedtalk Mobile SIM card (and phone number) to make emergency calls and texts. We've had the watch for a week now, but still haven't got it to fully work. I consider myself to be pretty tech savvy but the technology in this watch has many bugs and is not very intuitive. The mobile app is not bad...if it worked properly. I've emailed Xplora support multiple times without any success. I was never able to get the GPS work. And the camera never worked for us either. It was just a black screen. The watch itself looks nice and durable - but just didn't work. After spending a total of about 20 hours working on it, we gave up and returned it.

I can see how/why there are not many 'affordable' watches for kids which can do a bunch of things, without costing an arm and a leg! Xplora has attempted to do it...almost!It's a great product. But from get go, we've had issues...the GPS was not tracking my son accurately; the strap broke easily; time format was stuck at 'analog' eventhough, the settings said 'digital'. Upon raising the concern, Xplora tried to update the firmware remotely - but did not fix the issues.KUDOS TO THE SUPPORT TEAM! One of the best customer support teams I've interacted with. Another reason, I stuck with them; in spite of keeping a sub-standard watch.The team did everything they could. Eventually, sent me an upgraded replacement with extra straps. The original issues are all fixed - GPS is accurate; watch face is fixed; extra straps. Both way calls are great - clear. The initial setup and activation of SIM is quite easy.But I've had 1 major concern: the watch ONLY charges via a laptop and not via the wall plugs. And it's VERY HARD to match the charger pins to the back of the watch! It's very sensitive and usually a hit and a miss. When it does connect - it charges well. But it's very sensitive - you finally get the pings to match; you place the watch gently - the pins are misaligned! I wish this was better. And I am an adult struggling with this. Can you imagine a 9 or 10 year old?! So, needless to say - the watch has not been used as much as I'd love to or as much as my son would love to.

We had a bit of an issue at first with the SIM card being a non-US SIM card, but as soon as we discovered that, the friendly Xplora staff was able to quickly resolve it and sent us a new one right away! Now that we have a US SIM card, the watch has been working brilliantly. Our son loves wearing the watch, calling and sending me messages and counting his steps. Love that he can get rewards too!

My 5 year old loves this watch. It's so fun and he is so excited to have his very own smart watch that tells him how active he is. He really likes that he can call grandma and grandpa with his own "phone watch."The features are useful. The parental controls are really important for me and this watch meets that expectation. I really like the school mode and the tracking.I think this is a good way to introduce all things smart product to young children, because this is the world they are growing up in.Love the color and the flexible band. I do wish it was a little smaller, but after all, it is a smartwatch so the size is to be expected.Overall I'm pleased with the product! I would recommend to all my friends with children.

We bought this watch for our 10 yr old to text/call us when he got home from school. I also wanted to be able to look up his location when he is riding bikes around the neighborhood with friends.I like how there aren’t any games or internet connection on this watch. I also like that it is water resistant.However, we are returning this watch for multiple reasons. First off, it is inconvenient to have to get on the app to send a text to his watch. We also didn’t like that he is not able to type in a response to a text message, he can only choose from a handful of pre-made options which do not include “yes” or “no” so if we text him a question he is not able to respond yes or no.Another thing that was disappointing was the gps. He was in our backyard and it was saying he was in another state! How useless to have gps on a kid watch if it is completely inaccurate!We are returning this and purchasing a used Apple Watch that we will still be able to monitor from our phones.

I have never seen devices, which can't accept/read generic SIM-cards (unless they are specifically/artificially blocked on specific networks, like you heard about Verizon, Att, T-mobile or alike, and I understand those cases) but this device is said not to be blocked on a specific network, however, in reality it can't recognize and work in dozens of countries with regular GSM provider sim cards.What can be said about that, other then the crappy quality of chipset/hardware? Any normal device which is said to work on Sim-Card (even 20$ chinese phones) can read and recognize any regular sim card. However, Explora doesnt work with normal sim-cards and is said to "only work on some few European countrie's sim cards". dissapointed.
