Not an Alien ripoff
Contrary to what people believe the only thing this has to do with Alien is it takes place in space , and there's an Alien involved. The rest is believe it or not quite original and has some very decent fx. William Malone did an absolute great job on this one .

Horrid Horror Film... but
This film is really bad. Acting. Script. Effects. But, I bought it because Marie Laurin is awesome in the scene she takes out one of the crew. And it was still a dumb scene, but a well done dumb scene. That alone was worth the purchase. The 4K restoration (Creature) looks fantastic. The 2K version (Titan Find) is more blurry/muddled/dark looking with some film artifacts, but it's an improvement on any dvd I've seen.

Issue with the Unbox version of this movie - it isn't what it's suppose to be!
I purchased "Creature" thinking this was "Peter Benchley's The Creature" mini series from 1998 (as the picture shows and what the description above indicates.. This is NOT THE 1985 Klaus Kinski MOVIE "CREATURE" set in outer space! Not only that but the downloaded video from Amazon Unboz is the first 1 hour and 30 minutes of the actual 1998 mini series "Peter Benchley's The Creature" and it's missing the other 2.5 hours! This movie mini series was originally 4 x 60 minute episodes and this in NOT what you're getting when you download! Somehow no one has caught this up until now (March 1, 2011) or Amazon hasn't fixed it yet.. Sorry to be the bringer the bad news here (for those of you expecting to see the whole mini series or the Klaus Kinski Sci-Fi Space movie..[...]

NOT An Alien Ripoff
When people call movies like this a "ripoff" of the 1979 film Alien, I have to assume they haven't watched all that many films. This science fiction piece shares a lot more in common with The Thing, Solaris or even 1980's Without Warning than it does Alien. The original 50s version of The Thing is even referenced in the film. However, the fact that it is kind of a jumbled mess of other, more popular movies is the reason I'd say it's a good, but not great film. Klaus Kinski is some kind of weird, perverted scientist or engineer, but whatever position he holds in the German crew he is under utilized as he was in many films. You will probably notice most of the other actors as well and they all turn in a decent performance, so if you're looking for something "cheezy" this might not be what you're thinking of. Unfortunately we don't ever really get a good look at the 'Creature', but I honestly don't think that detracts from the film due to other obstacles. There are some interesting zombie like scenes, when the alien takes over the bodies of the people it has killed and those work as a better menace than the actual creature does. There is also a decent amount of blood and the director makes a nice effort to combine blood splatters with lightning strikes on the moon for some spectacular looking shots. The blood and gore definitely isn't overdone, but it did add some nice contrasts to the rather dark film which has a lot of blues, blacks and grays coloring the ships and the Saturnian moon. With the touches of blood and lightning, I would also compare Creature to a classic haunted house flick and in the end that's what I believe the makers of this film were shooting for. The movie is nicely paced and it is this pacing that keeps the tension up, where you will wonder who will survive if anyone at all? At 97 minutes the film isn't too long, but if you're looking for a non-stop action movie then this isn't for you. In the end, Creature holds it's own in a world of films where if they took place in space they were automatically called a steal from Star Wars or Alien. What's funny is I wonder if the people who call several 80s horror in space movies "Alien ripoffs" know that Alien is basically a remake of 1958's It The Terror From Beyond Space? Looking for some fun, horrific sci-fi give Creature a look. Strangely there are about a dozen different versions on Amazon to choose from, I just went with the cheapest...wait, were those Star Wars blaster sound effects in the background of this film?

Creature - Klaus Kinski

Consigliato agli appassionati.

Creature [DVD] [Region 1] [US Import] [NTSC]
It is also known as:A Criatura BrazilAlien Creature Norway (imdb display title)Créature FranceCreature - Il mistero della prima luna Italy (imdb display title)Criatura PortugalDie dunkle Macht der Finsternis West GermanyEisvoleis ston planiti tou tromou Greece (transliterated ISO-LATIN-1 title)Olio FinlandOtus FinlandThe Titan Find UK (video title)Titan Find USA (alternative title)It says on the back 1:39 min but I checked and the film is only 1:34 min in length, so it's cut lots. The aspect ratio is 4:3 not 2.35 as in the original and quality looks like stright copy from video.Watching at moment but the cut aspect ratio, censoring and bit below DVD quality has spolit it a bit for me.It's cheeper than the others and the picture quality is ok hence the 3 stars.Turning down the sharpness on your HDTV helps a bit.

Brrrrr
Effetti terribili, storia trita e ritrita e attori mediocri. Solo per ultra appassionati...e forse nemmeno per loro...molto meglio riguardarsi un buon alien o deviare su prodotti simili ma decisamente piu innovativi e molto meglio confezionati .. ( pitch black?)
