Read it, read it twice!
I opened this book late the night I received delivery and didn't close until after midnight... and got up at 5:15 to finish it. I have read it cover to cover and it has a strange effect when it connects the reader to the tales and characters interwoven into the text. I lost count of the 'OMG' moments, I laughed out loud at the mince pies and sobbed in the epilogue. I have bought extra copies for my Manager and Director as I leave their service in a few days time and Michael's book describes more eloquently than I could ever say why I have to go. Read it, read it twice, highlight the text and scribble in the margins until it is dog-eared and beaten - but most of all enjoy.

We work best when we do something we love and work with
This is a book is filled with practical, evidence-based, ideas to get your career back on track, to regain your enthusiasm for work and to enhance key relationships. We work best when we do something we love and work with, and for, people who we trust, where there is a "buzz" around the workplace. All too often we accept things as they are and we muddle through. It doesn't have to be like that as Michael demonstrates. I loved his personal anecdotes and often found myself smiling, thinking "yes, I've been there". It's easy to read, written in plain English and refreshingly free of business jargon and acronyms. Highly recommended.

Michael Brown has been through the corporate mill and out ...
Michael Brown has been through the corporate mill and out the other side. He has gone on to work with thousands of middle management staffers, many of whom are stuck in a job that is stultifying them. Based on that experience, Mike offers a ten point plan and real advice to as he puts it, 'get your career mojo back'.Career progression is too often seen as a steady escalator, but for most people it is not. That is why this book is so important.

Practical, useful, easy to read.
A very easy read. Almost a dictionary of the core management tools and strategies you need in every day work situations. Michael brings it all to life with personal stories, facts, and extra resources if you want to deep dive elsewhere. A great book to have on the bookshelf and dip in and out of depending in the challenges you face.A lovely helpful style, Michael comes across as authentic and genuine about wanting to help others. He brings a great deal of knowledge and experience from being a trainer both in the UK and overseas.

Advice frm the hip, heart and head
I've known and worked with Mike for over 10 years so you can either read this as a biased review or one that has the benefit not only of reading the book numerous times but of having seen the profound changes Mike has helped people make in workplaces around the world. Trust in the models and the stories Mike shares, they're all real, evidence based and effective.
