Textbook example of what is wrong with textbook publishers.
I just received the book yesterday in a less than new condition from amazon. Cover was bent, but otherwise the code and the pages were brand new. Anyways, the main reason to purchase this book was to get "ebook" content. The description from countless other vendors and JBL states that that is a feature of the book and it's even printed on the back of the cover. You login and access the digital content, and all is test questions, a study guide, and additional information on the case studies. The 'ebook' content is actually non-existent. They just copy and pasted the buzzword and applied it to their book. Perhaps in the earlier edition, when they were trying to push for digital content, they offered some sort of electronic version that came with it. In order for you to have both a hard copy and digital you need to purchase a digital key which costs the same MSRP. Yes, purchasing their textbook on their site actually costs more than a physical copy from a retailer. They label their digital version as an "efolio" edition to skirt providing you with the digital content and be able to print the word on their textbook. It wasn't that the content was mislabeled, I can totally accept that. It was the fact that their IS NO ebook content. Nothing on their supplemental site is even remotely close to textbook content. It is blatantly misrepresenting what they offer in their textbook, probably because they have so few people utilizing the supplemental material. You can even take a look at the outline of the content yourself:[...]

Kindle Version works well for class
I use the Kindle edition for my Fire Fighter 1 class and it works well. Only draw back is when instructor references a specific page in the hard copy, it can take a little guesswork to find the location.

A good place for any candidate to start
This is an equivalent manual to IFSTA Essentials. The developers of this manual have a thoughtful layout and progression through the entry-level information that every firefighter candidate needs. This does not replace the hands-on evolutions needed to complete a FF curriculum but it does offer a foundation. One criticism related to the text -- in more than a dozen places, the writers refer to a Skill demonstration or Figure which is not in the text. This can be misleading and confusing to try and follow.

Easy to navigate and find what you are searching for
I needed this book for Firefighter I and II. Very informative and has plenty of pictures and visualizations to compliment the reading. Easy to navigate and find what you are searching for, and all of the information is clear and precise. Coincides well with the national testing questions so there is no mis-information which is just about everyones objective with this book, for the most part. This is a great book by IAFC and NFPA just like their other series of fire books.

Four Stars
In great condition. A little bit of 'highlighting' but not too much that I can't deal with.
