Midnight black works well with certain waterbased sealers on wood.
Although you will read alot of information about how you can't use a waterbased sealer this isn't entirely true. I have used the midnight black unicorn spit on many indoor wood furniture projects and it is so good I have abandoned the oil base black gel stain I used for years. I use the varathane water based triple thick sealer with it and it works excellent. A little of the stain will come off onto the brush as you seal it but no running or damage to the color is noticeable. I cannot speak for this combo on anything other than wood. I also prefer this method over the oil based as I believe it hides imperfections better including if there is any wood glue left over. When I apply the unicorn spit i rub it in with gloves on and an old sock. When I seal it I use a paint brush ( I wouldnt use a chip brush personally) and you want to do it in small sections at a time. Dont bite off more than you can chew and move fairly quickly.Hope this hack helps others.Lastly this unicorn spit is technically more expensive per ounce than an oil based gel stain but also doesn't have the horrible lingering smells and dries incredibly quick. The trade off is 100% worth it!

I used this over acrylic paint to antique/distress a dresser. The reason I chose Unicorn Spit for this project is because it was my first time antiquing so I knew I'd probably make mistakes and liked being able to wipe them away with slightly dampened cheesecloth. Once that part was done, I let the project sit for a couple of days before sealing it.I started to seal it using a polyurethane brush-on sealant and it caused the Unicorn Spit to bleed and lift. I don't know if this is because I had used the Unicorn Spit over a latex paint, or what. So I used a spray sealant for the rest of the dresser, allowed that to dry for a day and then used the brush-on polyurethane. The spray sealant made it so the Unicorn Spit didn't run when I went over it with the brush-on sealant. The reason I used the brush-on sealant after I'd already sprayed it was because I wanted a glossy, smooth finish. I am very pleased with how the whole project turned out! I am very excited to try other colors of Unicorn Spit on future projects!

Pretty, unique and worth the price
Glaze is an all-natural, non-toxic, water based, vibrantly colored medium with a jasmine scent. It is safe to use indoors, on many surfaces and for any age or ability. US is a highly concentrated gel that can be diluted up to 70% with water for use as a stain on woods and porous surfaces or full strength as a paint or glaze. Due to its unique qualities, U.S stays vibrant and strong even when diluted. It can be used on wood, canvas, metals, plastic, fabric, glass, laminate and many other surfaces. Please make sure to always seal your initial work with an oil based sealer to protect U.S from reactivating (becoming wet again and smearing/bleeding). It is certified non toxic. This is a very pretty gray, it works well when distressing or weathering a project. It is awesome in doing storm clouds or stormy waves.

Potentially useful, but hardly a complete product.
This is more of a chalky finger paint than it is a stain or a glaze, unless you mean like a glaze for pottery before firing.I have no doubt, having now seen videos after buying it, than you can do all sorts of cool stuff mixing it with other chemicals and epoxy, for the finish, but if you just take the stuff in the bottle and put it directly on something and expect to be done (which was my understanding based on the description, because I saw no mention of the relatively extensive processes required), you're going to have a chalky mess that looks like your 5 year old went to town and forgot to clean up.The good thing is that this stuff doesn't actually set by itself. It only dries out. So, once you realize that you don't want it, you can pretty much wash it off with water and it's gone. It will possibly leave a very mild stain, but if you're going to punt and paint over it anyway, who cares? And if you go with an alcohol or oil based stain, it'll cover up whatever tint was imparted anyway. But if you think you can use this product by itself, and then spill a little water on it, you'll have something akin to a "I ran into Tammy Faye at the mall" T-Shirt.Hats off to those who combine it with other mixtures to make it swirl and do all the cool stuff in the pictures that made me want to try this, but I gave it one star because the product is not, by itself, what it claims to be. If I could return it, I would, but I think it's too late.
