Awesome
They make a great product. I use it for saddle hunting and I referred to experienced rock climbing guides in my area when making the choice. They all pointed me to this and after a full season of use I can say its awesome. I wanted something designed for and well used by climbers and with extra safety features. When your life depends on a device you are hanging from don't skimp out or purchase the latest fad product. Just buy this.

Amazing product
If your looking for an amazing belay device this is definitely the one for you. Recently I was just using the black diamond atc and this is a huge step up, the autolock is amazing and conserves energy from having to use strength to hold the climber. Definitely recommend

Safety feature not great for light climbers
First of all, this is a strong and very safe product. Used with proper ropes it does an excellent job. With climbers in the 160+ pounds range it is easy to lower them safely and the panic feature seems like it works ok. A buddy and I tried it out on each other and it does engage. However my gf weighs 113 and it can be harder to lower her because the panic feature engages when you’re just trying to open it enough to let her down. Pretty annoying to have to work around a safety feature on a regular basis. I wish I’d just gotten a regular grigri but we’re new climbers so the safety feature seemed like a good idea. Who knows though, maybe she panicked once or twice and it saved my life and I just don’t know it because the safety feature engaged and she didn’t admit it haha

Worth its weight in gold
Most amazing thing I have ever purchased. Yes, it’s expensive, but I would spend 3x as much for a product as durable and reliable as this one. Complete strangers can belay me with this device, and I will feel safe and secure the whole time

Grigri2 with some very useful improvements
Really like this belay device. It's very similar to the previous grigri 2 but with some great improvements. For gym use, I love the top roping mode as it grabs imediately, have yet to get it outside to test the lead mode but I assume it's also very good and hopefully will allow for slack to be payed out much easier. Also excited to see how it wears with the stainless steel plate vs the grigri 2 which would get notched out over time. Highly recommend.

AMAZING
Cheaper than Rock Creek or other stores and an amzing buy. Hasn’t failed me once. Definitely suggest buying here rather than in person.

Awesome
Great product. The grigri plus is a must have in my opinion. In an emergency uts perfect to belay a climber out of a tree.

Terrible Design
I work full time in a climbing gym. This is the worst assisted braking, cam style belay device available IMO. It frequently cams when you don't want it to, making a rough ride for lead climbing and lowering. The notch that you're suppose to use for your pointer finger on when lead belaying is far more difficult to use than the standard GriGri and GriGri 2. The notch is smooth metal rather than a hooked design. The reinforced steal plate would have been useful if they had actually put it in a place on the device that received any wear. It is also extremely difficult to switch the device between "lead mode" and "top rope mode." I would not suggest anyone purchase this device. Petzl, your device is bad and you should feel bad.

Having used the PETZL Grigri Mod. D13A Grigio before, I was familiar with its functions. While it generally gets the job done, there are a couple of aspects worth noting. Functionality: With the ropes I typically use, the Grigri performs adequately. However, I noticed it doesn't run as smoothly with thicker ropes (from 10mm upwards). This could potentially be a downside for those who frequently work with such ropes. Safety Features: The anti-panic handle, while undoubtedly a valuable safety feature for beginner belayers, can be a bit of a nuisance for more experienced users. I found it occationally blocks the rope unintentionally when pulling the lever too much during lowering, which can be frustrating. Overall Impression: Despite these minor inconveniences, the PETZL Grigri Mod. D13A Grigio remains a solid choice for belaying. Its reliability and safety features make it a trustworthy companion, particularly for those just starting out in climbing. However, for more seasoned climbers who prefer smoother operation and less interference, it might be worth exploring other options.

The regular Grigri would be just fine for indoor rock climbing. No need to spend the extra on the +, unless you are actually doing outdoor rock climbing and ever ounce of weight matters.
