Goldilocks and the Three Bears

Really beautifully done
Most noticeable in this version, aside from the highly detailed illustrations, is the strong hints given via the story that the adult reading the story use a variety of voices imitating the bears. Children tend to enjoy this a lot, especially if it's daddy who is trying to produce a tiny, squeaky voice. The bears are described not as papa, mama, and baby but by their relative sizes. Goldilocks runs away and is never seen again because she is startled rather than frightened by the bears, so this isn't too scary for toddlers.

Better for bigger kids
The story is worded different than the original, the bears are not refered to as a family, no mamma bear, pappa bear or baby bear. The book is listed for ages 2-5 but its not engaging to my 2 year old, it might be better for older children. The illustrations are good but not as bright or catchy for the younger ones.

Love this version
While looking for fairy tales for granddaughter I noticed there are so many versions now days of these books and quite a few cartoony or not very well done. This version is just what I was looking for, true to the story and great art work. For me beautiful illustrations are part of the story and memorable stories has the great art work to go with them so when I found this book I knew it was the perfect Goldilocks and the Three Bears book for our granddaughter. I want her to experience the fairy tales with great books as we had when we were children. This is it.

Skips like a defective album
No fun and not the original story. Why it claims to be the original is beyond me.Most of the stories have been changed to boring knockoffs.Even Mother Goose is boring and stupid now. They all have been watered down to so they say “not to frighten the children. Is it a wonder we have so many people easily frighten of things.

Beautifully illustrated
I have long loved this version of Goldilocks and The Three Bears because there is so much going on in the illustrations. There are bears everywhere. I can imagine reading it to a child and having him or her pick out where bears can be seen. She does a beautiful job--not only in this book, but in several others.

Just as I remember this story
Bought this book to read to my 18 month grandson. He doesn't like listening to the words yet, but he likes the pics. The layout is very old fashioned, which I like!!! Definitely recommend!

Jan Brett is great, the pictures have so much detail that it stays entertaining to the adult whop has to read each new book 4,917 times before the kid can move on. I like that we have a number of different Goldilocks books and the kid can be thinking about the connections when we read them.
