Languages: Cantonese, Mandarin / Subtitles: English, Traditional Chinese / Synopsis: When this amazing movie premiered, Stephen Chow was already one of Hong Kong's biggest stars and a comic icon. Having already lampooned such subjects as gambling, kung-fu, the justice system, the educational system, James Bond, and even Chinese mythology, Chow and a great cast of new faces as well as old favorites take on ghostbusting. There are thrills and laughs galore in this Chow winner, who is now taking his rightful place as an international comic genius

Don't watch if you have one of these triggers..
Jokes about a little boy being taken for sex, specifically sodomy.Jokes about rape of a girl when a place is robbed by security guards.Rape of a 80 yr old womanPile of crap in someone's hand, and rubbed on face.Violence..constant hitting and kicking of personsStabbingShootingThe list goes on...I don't find any of this funny. Maybe I am just a bit too grown up to watch this.Just No.It should have stayed in the dark.D~

Nope
Mandarin with English subtitles, subtitles which go by in a flash. There was a reference to two new employees not understanding Mandarin, so I assumed that was the language they were speaking. Since I don't understand either, I guess it could have been Cantonese. Anyway, “Out of the Dark” is a Chinese comedy, I think. I got to the thirty-minute mark and had to let it go because I couldn’t keep watching such a bad movie. I have no idea how it got any good review because it was simply bad slapstick comedy. I like good slapstick. This was bad slapstick. You can avoid this one.

Lilies are truly the best flowers.
Stephen Chow movies are never meant to be taken seriously, so if you have an issue with slightly crude humor than this movie is not for you. This movie is a comedy based around an apartment complex that ends up getting haunted after an elderly woman is killed. An unlikely team of security guards, the daughter of one of the residents and a mental patient fight against the ghosts. I found it fun and entertaining, however I am a huge Stephen Chow fan.

When it starts this bad, why watch to the end?
I stopped watching when the two security guards began talking about theft, hookers and rape...then one referred to themselves as upright people.. I was not triggered, I just think that true humor doesn't celebrate the lowest in possible human behavior. I got maybe a couple of minutes into it. Why waste my time on such garbage?

Silly Ghost Story/Ghost Busters That Takes Place in a Building Complex Dealt With By Slap-Stick Securities
Movie is in Cantonese with English subtitles. Not funny at all. Just silly and boring about ghosts in a building complex with a young man from the insane asylum who is training the security guards on how to recognize ghosts and destroy them. Stephen Chow plays the insane young man/ghost buster. Movie started with interesting ghost activities, but later just got ridiculous after 20 minutes. The rest of the movie was just slap-stick garbage. Don't waste your time.

A whole lot of fun!
A whole lot of fun! A new take on ghostbusting. It is hard for a movie to be silly and good at the same time. Stephen Chow delivers his lines with the elegance of Bill Murry. A fun time for fans of Asian cinema. It is an Asian Crush film.

Silly, but good
This story plays homage to many other action/adventure movies, but believe it or not, it's not predictable. It's funny, dumb, and silly with some killer actions scenes. Be warned though. The subtitles are white so many times the movie itself won't let your know what's being said, but that's my only complaint. For light-hearted and laughs, yes. For something like The Grudge, no.

Comedic Ghost Story
The film is about a house that is haunted and a group of people working together to fight against the aggressive ghosts. There are elements of horror in the film, but always in a comedic context.
