I’ve had this door over a year now. Don’t use the rails that come with it. They expand and contract like crazy, so the door often gets stuck with any weather change. I forgot to check all was well the other night after being exhausted, and sure enough the door stuck, my favorite chicken walked out too early in the morning, and a bobcat got her. Rails were replaced immediately.The actual device works only ok. It often “slips” so it takes much longer to open and close the door than it should. I haven’t found a way to reset this unless the device tells you there’s a malfunction and to reset your door and makes you recalibrate the door. And let me tell you how much I love recalibrating the door. In order to change the open/close time, you MUST recalibrate the door, because there’s no option to skip that step. It gets real old the closer it gets to spring/winter equinox when you have to change the time every weekend. Minor flaws causing such major inconveniences.RIP my brave gorgeous Noodle.

Standard model has the light sensor but they lock you out of that function unless you pay more. I wanted the light sensor but didn't know the standard didn't have that feature unlocked.

The media could not be loaded.  Simple and easy to install door and opener. Instructions are well done, step by step. I didn’t have room directly above my door opening to install according to instruction so I used a pulley. Time will tell on durability.Only gripe I have is just how easy the wood splits for the door frame. I predrilled the holes for screws and even slightly over tightening started to split them. Definitely take it super easy with tightening of the screws for door frame rails and counter sink the holes per instruction.

I bought this to use over my doggie door. I want to close the door when I leave for work at 7am and have it open at 11am (so they don't wake neighbors barking). It will not let me set the CLOSE feature for an AM hour. I get that it is for chickens, but I wish they had allowed for this option. Otherwise, the door was PERFECT...but now I can't use it at all....and of course I already installed it and put the holes in my door. Ugh. I am waiting for them to get back to me to see if there is a fix for this. If there is, I will adjust my review

The program itself is great. The door assemly is literally 2 pieces of wood with a notch in each and a flat metal sheet. Im not entirely comfortable with the setup as i think any animal could get by this. Ive already had the door get stuck in the waybdown and not completely close. Definitely needs improvement.

In my quest to have the most modern coop of all time; this was a wonderful addition. Easy to program, and easy to install (had two people but really didnt need two at all).Great feeling looking out in the AM and seeing the girls out in the run without needing my intervention!

To start I have to say that this is our first time having chickens (hatching our own). And as a new chicken family we had no clue of what to do or buy, so we kept our chickens indoors in a little coop until they were "grown" enough to spent the night out. By having them inside we learn that we had to wake up at 5AM to open the little door every day including weekend. (Baby roosters will practice everyday regardless) So once we start building the big coop we start reviewing certain features until we found chicken guard and we have to say we love it. It's really easy to install and set up and the best thing is that I don't have to wake up early in the morning to go outside and open the door for my babies. So YAY us!!

My specific chicken coop has an awkward door so I removed it. I mounted the system on a piece of plywood and replaced the one wall section of my chicken coop. All the effort was worth it. I no longer have to get up when the chickens do.

Very pleased with the door itself but really disappointed that I could have got the upgraded version on their own website for about another £10. It’s the same company so you’d have thought they would have given you different buying options on amazon. Feel very cheated out of my hard earned money.

What a fantastic itam its keeping my Hens safe and warm. And gives me peace of mind.

Excellent product. Straight forward and no hitches to date. Certainly is a time saver and a weight of the mind knowing the hens are shut up at dark. Recommended.
