How does one claim the 5 year guarantee? Mine went bad 45 days after purchase.

The bad one I had lasted a little longer than 4 years. It depends on how often you have the A/C on. On the other hand, the cost is minimal. The troublesome is to get your hands dirty. It doesn’t take long to replace. I replaced mine at 10:00PM when it broke while temperature was at in the mid eighties. Thanks to this unit that the whole family was able to sleep well.

My unit says 5/50uf and this one says 50/5uf. Are they the same?

Yes you just have to make sure that the 50 uf are connected to the compressor and common and the 5uf is connect to the fan and common. It will say on the capacitor, each terminal will be marked as to which leads go where.
