On The Edge of Your Seat
I love the movies made from his books including this one. The director sets a good pace and it is full of action, drama, and sentiment.

Great Movie
I watched this movie years ago. I like it so much I wanted to watch it again. I like Susan Sarandon and Mary Louise Parker and they are awesome in this movie. Also, Tommy Lee Jones and Brad Renfro (The boy who played Mark Sway) were awesome as well. Such a good movie if you like suspense, drama and the actors/actresses. Watch it. You'll like it too.

Not too bad a Grisham adaption.
Not too bad a Joel Schumacher film (the director died June 2020) whose output has been very mixed over his career but he did kick-start the careers of several actors and he may have hoped to do so for Brad Renfo, the 11 year old 'star' of this 1994 film.Sadly in my view the boy's performance here is terribly erratic and lost this viewer's admiration ---- Renfro appeared lost and innocent then nasty and manipulative and then back again to deserve protection from the bad guys, be they 'The Mob', self-serving lawyers, the police or the FBI.Protecting him is a struggling lawyer played with gusto by Susan Sarandon who does bring some credibility to the role and more than holds her own against Tommy Lee Jones as the opposing counsel out to make a name for himself at any cost, even if he condemns the boy. It's a good entertaining film and one of the better adaptations of a great writers works which haven't always succeeded over the years but here it is well handled and simply told. I had fun spotting some actors that have appeared in worthy productions over the years, they had to start somewhere, and here with almost no dialogue.William H Macy, J T Walsh, William Sanderson ( the Mayor in 'Deadwood'), Bradley Whitford ('The West Wing'), the Anthonys Edwards ('E.R.'), Heald ( Dr Chiltern in 'Silence of the Lambs' & 'Red Dragon') and LaPaglia. This edition has excellent picture and sound definitions, and comes with English subtitles, 116 minutes.

Great Movie with an unexpected Star
This film features Susan Sarandon and Tommy Lee Jones as opposing lawyers, when two young boy witness a mob lawyer kill himself after first disclosing some secrets to one of the terrified boys, This particular boy is played by the now sadly departed Brad Renfro who as Mark Sway acts the established actors off screen, the story is slight but able to propel the film along, but without Renfro it would be almost a caricature of a movie with TLJ chewing the scenery as Reverend Roy Foltrigg, When Mark has been sufficiently scared by the police he seeks out a lawyer and finds Sarandons Reggie Love, an alcoholic who lost her own children and so begins the battle of David and Goliath with mob hitman in the background trying to kill Mark.It remains an utterly engaging film but mainly because of the powerhouse performance of a young Brad Renfro who sadly never lived to become the legend his performance suggests.

The Client - Powerful drama
Bought out of interest, having just read the book. The Grisham films go at a fair clip compared to the books, and much detail is discarded. Also the popular culture of the Southern US states: racism, sexism etc. can seem a bit jarring. A good film usually makes itself felt in the first few minutes, and this is no exception.

she loved it.
Bought as a present for a friend as she had never seen the film...she loved it...Superb performance by Susan Sarandon and Tommy Lee Jones, not to mention the cheeky young man who plays the boy caught up in the story...cracking film...

This movie adaptation does not deliver superbly in a way ...
This movie adaptation does not deliver superbly in a way the novel had achieved in this original story written by John Grisham, but it is worth watching to compare the adaptation of this film with the novel.
