Happy to have them- nice and reliable as Garmin!
Easy to set up the light on the same Garmin bike handlebar extender. I am not taking it off for recharging but rather apply cable from the nearest outlet. Also, don't synchronized with Garmin as it would be discharged in couple of hours. Just clicked the light on by the blinking set- so it would last for several hours of ride. Happy to have them- nice and reliable as Garmin!

So bright it exposes my bad life choices at 5AM
The Garmin Varia UT 800 Smart Headlight is legit. This thing turns my 5AM rides from “dark questionable life choices” into “Tour de France night stage.” It connects right to my Garmin computer, has multiple modes, great battery life, and a solid mount that hasn’t launched it into orbit (yet). It’s bright enough to make deer question their life decisions and to let early morning drivers know I’m either training… or trying to escape something. Battery lasts plenty long for my pre-dawn suffering, and it’s smart enough to adjust brightness automatically, which is more than I can say for my own decision-making before coffee. 10/10 makes me visible, faster, and slightly more dramatic about my cycling hobby.

Bright & Robust
I don't ride at night but use this because of it's day-flash mode. It is SUPER bright! Definitely helps get attention. The light pairs with many garmin devices or you can use it stand alone. When paired with a 830, you can leave the light in a standby mode. In stanndby the lights fire up automatically when you start an activity. Pretty Cool!!! Or you can just power it down completely. Also, when paired w/830 you can control the light mode via the 830 interface. That way you don't have to reach down and fidget with the light. I cheaped out on a go-pro mount, and of course, needless to say, the light flew off when i hit a bump at 18+ mph. The light hit the ground and bounced up high, so high I was able to reach to the side and swat it so it would land closer to the side walk and away from cars where it could get run over (yes it has happened, I had a watch that fell and got run over.) At any rate, the light only had a minor scuff and still works great! amazing, I thought I had lost the light for good.

Good Light, Typical Garmin
I needed a replacement front "Blinky" that had enough lumens to be useful for getting home on a late return from a ride as the days get shorter. This seemed like a good integration with my Garmin 1040 (which is excellent). The mounting system with the Garmin mount is good. The 1040 found the light and the settings and control seem to be working fine after a couple software/firmware updates. The "Hi-Vis" mode is a bit too bright in my view, ok on the road but too bright for bikeways. The battery life in "Auto" for constant on is less than what I expected and overall less than advertised. Lumens are adequate to get you home but I have much better lights (Exposure Strada) for actual planned riding during darkness. Can never quite tell if it's charging or completely shut off as the blue "connection" indicator seems to be looking for the head unit. Battery level on the 1040 shows the light as fully charged but based on past experiences with Garmin I'm not sure I trust it yet. OK so far, just a bit ambivalent about value for money and although Garmin have come a LONG way with their software and UI it frequently feels like "not quite ready for prime time" with a lot of their stuff.

Excellent headlight for cycling
I have used this light on all of my rides for the last several years. It pairs well with my Edge 1040 and has decent battery life on the flash mode. I use it during day time rides for safety reasons to make sure cars see me coming. My only complaint is the USB-micro charging connection. I think an upgrade to the USB-C connector would be nice. I will buy a new one when this upgrade is available.

Wish I had done this sooner
I have a rather extensive Garmin ecosystem. I wear a phoenix six solar watch, I have a Garmin edge, bike computer, Garmin, heart rate, chest monitor, and use the Connect app to monitor all of my data and track my calories. I’m not sure why it took me so long to and bike lights to the system! I’ve been riding with what I thought were pretty good headlamps, but on a whim, I bought the Vera headlamp and rear tail light system (tail light hasn’t arrived yet, I will review that later). This morning was my first ride with this light, 5 AM in complete darkness. I was blown away. 270° angle is very impressive, within intense light focused in a beam directly in front of the bike. It’s very bright! It connected immediately to my edge computer, and it’s very nice to see the battery status! I’m looking forward to getting the rear light connected to the entire network and having the two work together. I will address that in my review of the taillight later.

I’ll start by saying I have this light integrated with my Garmin Edge 1030, so I can’t comment on standalone functionality. I can say that turning the light on and off is easy, and cycling through the different modes is easy. From an integration standpoint, this light is awesome! The Edge 1030 connects to the light when I turn it on, and automatically turns the light on when I start cycling. I have it set to strobe mode during the day, but it automatically switches to high full brightness at sunset. When I complete my ride on my Edge 1030, the light automatically switches off. Aesthetically the light is slim and sleek, not super heavy, and is easily installed on the bottom of my bike computer mount which further streamlines my bike. Battery life is great! I charge it when I charge my computer and it has never died on me. The price may not be cheap, but you get what you pay for! Note that this light integrates with many other Garmin bike computers besides the Edge 1030.

Strange light to be fair. Its great that can be controlled through the edge series of computers. So can have it turn on when you start, change how it operates whilst riding etc. It's battery life is a bit suspect and the high mode is more of a city light rather than a country lane beast. I have now moved it to my helmet as it is light enough not to be too noticeable. Where it has worked well is a daylight riding light, the ease of use, the flash etc are perfect for this, but not at the price its sold at. One or the models, urban or trail, comes with a helmet mount but you can find others on amazon as it works with go pro mounts. I got mine for £89 from a seller on amazon US. I think this price is the top end for it. If it pops up black friday/prime days etc for a prices lower than that then i think for most people looking for an all rounder day/city light then this should be seriously looked at.

First off the universal mount is fantastic because my bike came with it hence it doesn't clutter my handlebar. It's a little weighty but doesn't bother me. In any case it just gives me confidence in this product, for being well built and looks like it can withstand drops/shock. The battery life is good but I've only used the low light mode at 200 lumens, sometimes 400 but rarely needed in Singapore roads where I reside. On top of that it can sync with my bike computer to display battery life and enable some smart lighting features.
