Cello Rosin

I am brand new to the cello. My instrument came with some rosin that was described as "premium", but was more like a hunk of plastic. I swiped my bow over it SO MANY times—even scratched it up to see if it would help—and never got any sound out of the cello.I tried this Pirastro rosin and it only took a few swipes (no scratching, either!) to see the difference on the rosin itself. It went from polished to showing a little bit of residue, and when I tried playing there was glorious noise! Now I can practice and learn how to turn that noise into music.
