NEW Combo BLUWAVS CD and FLAC FILE Review: an excellent album.....falls just short of perfection. - i'm a longtime fan of this band, getting into them after i discovered ten rapid. i've pretty much everything they've released. and this the first album by them that i never consider skipping ahead to the next track...a feeling i'll get maybe once or twice on all of their previous works. but as great as Mr. Beast is, i have just one issue with it: it lacks any 7-8+ minute epics. several of their longer songs are my favorites (MFMK, 2 rights..., helicon 1, ratts...) in fact, only 3 songs here eclipse the 5-minute mark. and the rest fall in the 3 and 4 minute window. they're all very very good, but a few seem to end just a little abruptly, before they can evolve from very good to simply incredible. if they would only extend some of the songs 1 or 2 more minutes each (glasgow mega-snake is a prime example), the album as a whole would be a masterpiece. this leaves me just a little frustrated, as several songs are just gathering their legs before the band decides to end them. it's unfortunate, realizing the real potential that's on here. nonetheless, it'll likely become my very favorite mogwai album. it's an excellent blend of their earlier heaviness and more recent experimentation with electronics and piano. it just falls 2-3 extended songs short of absolute greatness. Review: NEW TO ME and maybe now to you. - Heard MOGWAI first on SEATTLE'S radio power KEXP and bought immediately AND THE LOVE CONTINUES. . Days later through my desertcart I buy the cd's

Mr Beast is my favourite Mogwai Album.
Mr Beast is my favourite Mogwai album to date. It has a lot of noteworthy tracks, such as "Emergency Trap," "Friend of the Night," and "Folk Death 95." I got my order from Amazon nice and fast too. I don't regret a thing about this purchase.

Mogwai: Mr. Beast (Matador)
My biggest prediction about this album is that Mr. Beast will be their substitute of a definitive album for a band who introduced to me the beauty of post-rock. Different songs sound like something that is a B-Side off of another album, and some of the stuff on the album sounds like it just recently written. It's like the closest you can ever get to their greatest hits album and just the thing to introduce the best of Mogwai to those who haven't heard of them. The swirling beginning of the first song "Auto Rock" kick off with a bit of piano that reminds you of the glowing heart they placed inside your chest during Happy Songs and Young Team. "Auto Rock" stomps and creeps the sky with the beauty that you never thought a band like Mogwai would bring in the beginning. It is just a wonder you never hear a burst of fuzz in the middle as you are listening. That is because the music was based on placing some restraint. All of the fuzz and cutup music you may be able to hear is on the hard-rockng "Glasgowmegasnake", which is what you are likely to find on albums like Rock Action. The music also has the power you are more likely to find in Happy Songs' "Ratts of the Capital". The downside is they don't resort to letting you down easy. The just stop the music right where it is. Quite a questionable transition from that to the head-bopping "Acid Food",, which comes to a lilting close with country guitar slides. "Acid Food" and their long take on "O I Sleep" from Rock Action, "Travel is Dangerous" are the only songs that feature the bands' vocals whereas "I Chose Heroes" features a Japanese frontman of a band speaking through the song. "Travel is Dangerous" plays like the type of Nu-Metal tune that not many has mastered. Mogwai also then sounded like a real band trying to release light out of their guitars. "Team-Handed" although their darkest on the album is one of their weakest tracks next to the rough-edged yet practically leveled and mostly idle take on the empty-jab "Ratts" "Folk Death '95". I take it most of you already heard the majestic and heartwarming answer to Explosions in the Sky's "Your Hand in Mine" "Friend of the Night" which sounds like a mesh between "Ratts of the Capital", "Golden Porsche" and "I Know You Are but What Am I?", all found on Happy Songs for Happy People. The thing about this song is that it will do more than touch your heart, but if you want to, you can imagine a storyline full of flying children and the scary woods. It's arguably THE best song on the album. "Emergency Trap" isn't one to be talked about, really. The type of song you'd listen to on a rainy day, if it already doesn't take it's place as part filler. "I Chose Horses" bring out the vocoder to set the mood for scenic while a man talks quiet enough to make it sound as if you are looking off of a cold mountain and the Almighty was talking to you. That is when they bring out the big bang of the album "We're No Here", putting their new take on "Stop Coming to My House" by releasing the very restraint the band has to burst upon you in every song. And "We're No Here" is your one chance to hear the stars pop and create something new within the galaxy. The Mogwai album that we never expected to have an urge to top so much. But Mogwai could actually top Happy Songs by a few songs and some more additives to further blow your heart to extreme proportions. If I am wrong on any of these references, there is seriously one thing you just can't deny. Listening to Mr. Beast is like listening to every Mogwai album ever put out. And what newcomer wouldn't want anything more than to bump into a brand new album posing as a wonderful collective, only to have them run into an album that builds a new space for a galaxy in your soul? Rating: 7.75/10

Winner!!!
I dont know why I waited so long to get this one but after listening to all of the Mogwai recordings this is the best one, it has more guitar than the stuff on "Hardcore...". Very good.

Their most accessible with lots of nice piano that you don't hear on their new stuff.

Sehr gute CD. Wie bei jeder CD gibt es Lieder die nicht so besonders sind. Aber die CD ist trotzdem zu empfehlen
