Removed large rust stain in <3 hours
After removing a broken faucet, the rust stain underneath was terrible. It was large and showed with our new faucet.I tried a few poultices before ordering this. I did it 3 times, leaving it on for the directed 5 minutes. Then I tried a bit longer. As you can see in one of the pictures, it did discolor the marble, but removed majority of the rust. A paste of baking soda and water with plastic wrap covering left overnight left it looking beautifully white.I probably would continue to work on the stain more if it wasn’t getting covered by the faucet.Couldn’t be happier with this product! Definitely works well.

Definitely worth the money
This product is in no small words AMAZING!!I have a marble counter top in one of my washrooms which had gotten a circular rust stain from someone leaving a container on the counter over time. I had a professional company come out and use poultice to attempt to remove the stain to no avail despite three tries over a period of a month.I had finally given up and was getting quotes to have the counter replaced when I came across this product and figured why not give it a try.I dampened the marble countertop, applied the product directly to the stain, and left it for about 4-5 hrs. As mentioned in other reviews, it turns a sort of purple color, but the rust stain is definitely gone. After wiping away the stain remover with a cloth and water, I then applied a mixture of water and baking soda, in an almost toothpaste like consistency, and left it overnight. The next morning I cleaned away the baking soda. The counter looked darker that the other areas but the purple stain was completely gone. I allowed the area to dry and cannot even tell where the stain was before. I figure this product has saved me at least $1500 for a new countertop.

Used on granite, rust is gone
It did get rid of the rust, *updated to 4 stars as the damp look seems to have faded even more and at this point I don't think anyone but me would notice it. still keeping it at 4 because of the stink and the multi day ordeal but bottom line is it did take the rust out.I had left a piece of cast iron cookware on the counter for a few days not realizing it was leaving a rust stain on the mostly white granite. my usual approach of baking soda and vinegar poultice left on for a couple days didn't work so I went through several different options in my cabinet that also didn't work. I bought this and it does stink but after leaving on two applications each 24 hours in a row it did remove the rust. It left a faint purple hue so i used another baking soda and vinegar poultice on and the purple went away but either it's still damp after a day and a half of drying or it just permanently looks a damp now from either the product or the variety of products i used there's no way to tell what did it. either way i'd rather my granite look damp than it have a thick rusty circle so i'm pleased enough with it.

This stuff works!
I was talked into white marble in the shower. That turned out to be a bad idea, because marble often contains trace amounts of iron. For this reason, white marble is not recommended in areas that frequently get wet. In the first two pictures, you will see what happened to the bench seat which is directly under the shower stream. Ugly rust stains!I tried every other product under the sun - gentle cleansers, poultices - you name it! Then I found this amazing product...In the end, it took multiple applications. I had to buy 2 bottles of it. And I had to leave it on way longer than the label says to do. I figured, as long as it stinks and as long as stuff is still turning purple, it is doing it's work. (See pic #3 - it got ugly in there, and the wife was freaked out for a bit...)Then I had to buy Hydrogen Peroxide cream developer in 40-volume (available on Amazon under Beauty Supplies) and mix it into a paste with baking soda and leave that overnight under a sheet of plastic wrap with vents cut into it. I find it humorous that the active ingredient in the Rust Eater product is the same chemical used in hair relaxer. Both things I used were originally for giving a permanent hair curl! The Rust Eater smells like a 1980's hair salon - make sure you have adequate ventilation!Finish with a marble polish and a small orbital hand-buffer, then seal with Sealer's Choice Gold from Aqua Mix (also available on Amazon). The last 2 pics show the final result. The stains are still there in some spots, but it looks SO MUCH BETTER than it did! It was completely worth the cost and effort.

Didn't work for me
Had a rust spot on white marble in my shower. Followed instructions and did not work at all. This stuff REALLY STINKS. BE warned that the smell is really bad and will take a couple of days to go away (even if using a small amount). would have lived with the smell if the product worked - but it didn't for me.

Thought I would take a gamble and maybe this would work on my marble. Never turned color never did anything.

Product Works Well and How to remove any Purple After Tones left By the Product
There were three small (1.5 inch diameter each) rust stains in a new marble dresser top slab recently purchased from a stone remnant yard. Photo shows example of one of the three rust stains. Applied this rust removal product to each rust stain and let the solution stand on the stains for about 15 minutes. Wiped the rust removal product off of each stain with a damp towel and repeated the process 10 times to completely remove the rust stains as they were relatively deep into the stone. Applying fresh product after each of the 10 applications appeared to work well. After the rust stains were completely gone, there was a very slight purple tone left behind by the rust removal product. Created a paste mixture of hydrogen peroxide and baking soda and let the paste sit for 4 hours to completely dry on each former rust stain area. The marble slab was left with no hint of rust or rust remover after tones.
