Lots of different activities
As this is a Christmas present for a 10 year old I cannot comment on their reaction yet. I can see that there are numerous activities to challenge an 8 to 12 year old. Some will be easy but quite a few might need adult guidance. Looks as if this is a great book to occupy young minds particularly on a rainy day.

My bright 7 year old loves the challenges in this book. There is a huge variety of puzzles and so there’s something for everyone. School doesn’t stretch him at all so he does these for fun

I have a 7 year old who loves learning. She loves learning the ins and outs and wondering how things tick. This book was a great one for her to open on Easter. She opened it and got right to work. There are a wide variety of activities that are helpful in keeping kids entertained or making them feel less like they are "working" and learning and more about having fun. We plan on using this guy in the summer for road trips and especially during those moments when "i'm bored" becomes a theme and quiet time is necessary!

Was worried about quality but when it came it was great. Decent thickness and kept my children occupied for ages..they have also come back to it since. Was able to get a different one for different ages too.
