There are other great books about Detroit and it's complex, fascinating history. Some may even wonder what more can be said. And that would be a mistake. Herb Boyd tells the story f the Detroit that the other historians missed. Perhaps because he was so much closer to it than they. I literally could not put this book down.

Excellently written and documented account of a city that has been so much a part of helping to shape America. I enjoyed reading and delving deeper into its history. It was truly an enjoyable, enlightening read!

As an old Detroiter I enjoyed reading about places and events I had not heard in along time It was nice knowing the author and I went to the same schools

One of the greatest books I've ever read about my home town. Way to go Herb for making me proud of this great city I was born and raised in. Keep up the good work.

This book is wonderful! I love reading about where I grew up and the history behind the name of famous streets. Well written and detailed!
