Unique Cake Pan - Perfect for Almond Cake With Honey Syrup
This is a great, heavy duty cake pan! So unique, and makes a whimsical looking, pull-apart cake. It won't stick if you make sure to spray or butter all the nooks & crannies thoroughly, dust well with flour, and then turn it over to shake out the excess. After you get your batter in the pan, pick it up a few inches off the counter and let it drop back down several times. This gets rid of air bubbles and helps the batter get all the way down into the pattern. I wasn't all that impressed with the recipe that came with the pan, but found a fantastic recipe online that bakes perfectly in this 10 cup pan. Google "Honey Cake with Almonds ~ Baked in a Honeycomb Pan" and it should be the first result. The recipe calls for toasted almond flour, whole wheat flour, honey, lemon zest and nutmeg, and we LOVED it. Drizzle the honey syrup over it, and you've got a gorgeous cake. Five stars.

Great Quality
Like most Nordic Ware products, this one is great quality and has an excellent design. You can see the details with anything you bake in this pan, and it's great for making shareables. It feels heavy and made to last. Beautiful work.

Fantastically easy way to serve cake to more than a few people!
This turned out to be better than expected. A great way to serve a crowd without having to slice up cake. Each piece is just the right size for most people. Kids love it. Design shows well. Great quality pan that releases cake well. This would be a wonderful gift.

Awesome baking pan
It came silver not the color advertised, but my son was happy with it and they made some awesome banana bread in it. Turned it awesome.

My favorite baking pan
I absolutely love this pan. I've been using it to make as much stuff as I can think of! Pancakes, waffles, pizza rolls, monkey bread-- I've even been using it for meal-prepping. I'd make a high protein pancake/waffle and use the cavities to quickly portion sizes out. Plus, it's so pretty for potlucks! Everything I've made looks so appetizing! Not too difficult to clean if you follow the instructions included. I haven't had any stickiness issues since I follow the instructions included. It's a little on the heavy side, but this pan is CAST ALUMINUM so expect it to be on the hefty side.

Beautiful Honeycomb Cake; Really Does Pull Apart; So Hard To Clean
I have made about 30 of these cakes now using a slightly modified recipe from the one provided. It delivers exactly as promised. It is easy to use, it is very sturdy, and above all else, it looks and tastes great. Some words of caution: You can use the recipe that comes with it BUT be aware that the recipe will overflow if you do not cut the ingredients by about a quarter. Nordic Ware's recipe for their pans always make way too much. The good news is that if you also own any of their other bee themed pans, you can use the extra to just fill those pans and make some other bee themed cakes at the same time (that's what I do.) This might be their worst pan to clean. There are so many little groves and sharp edges that even after a very hot soak with water and detergent you will still need to use a small brush or toothpicks to get everything out. It is always a task to clean these things. It is hard to argue with the results though, but the cleaning is always something I dread. Overall, it is still a great product and I would recommend it. People see it and they immediately want to try it.

What a fun pan!
The pan arrived today (fast shipping, btw). Nice and heavy, like all Nordic Ware specialty pans. I had been collecting honey-based recipes in anticipation of its arrival, and chose a honey donut recipe for the premiere bake. I used Baker's Joy with flour, taking care to cover all the sides of the honeycomb pattern. Spread the batter into the pan, couple of knocks on the counter to make sure the batter was even, and to get rid of any air bubbles. Voila! The recipe baked evenly throughout, and came out of the pan with nothing left behind. The photo was taken immediately after I turned the cake (donut?) out — as you can see, there is very little residue in the pan. A lovely honey glaze to finish it off, and you have a fun and beautiful offering for your family or any kind of gathering! I am imagining cake, bread, molded gelatin... anything you can imagine you can probably do with this pan. Two thumbs up from this long-time baker.

Beautiful pan, but with the usual expected limitations
I used to own several NordicWare novelty baking pans like this one, but sold or gave them away years ago because I hated cleaning them and didn’t feel like my cakes came out cleanly enough with a visible enough pattern to make them worth using. I don’t know why I decided to buy this one, except it’s so adorable and I love the individual portioning that happens with the pan. It is a gorgeous, heavy metal pan and it has really nice detailing in the hexagonal sections. My cakes still don’t form perfect designs so far, so I will try denser recipes and see if that works, but they look lovely anyway and my friends have loved eating them with me. I gave in and bought the Baker’s Joy spray, but I don’t know that it really improved things; I think brushing on soft butter and flour, or maybe even a light olive oil and flour, might work better. Will play with that part. As for cleaning, it was painful as they all are. There is no simple method to clean this thing. So many little corners and crannies. But it did come clean with attention to detail and a spare toothbrush for the hard to reach sections. Surprisingly, I’m willing to bear with that inconvenience this time. The cakes are just that nice looking. Now, if I had just held onto my NW rosette mini-cake pan…

I like the idea of a pull apart baked cake or bread, so I waited for this to come on special. Like all Nordic ware, it is well made and if you follow the instructions for care, it will probably outlast you and be willed to someone you like.

Okay, I gotta start off this review by saying I LOVE my new honeycomb pan. It looks amazing! It is so unique and none of my coworkers have the same thing. When I'm not using the pan for baking, I've got it on a stand to display in my kitchen cabinet. Initially I purchased the older model that is silver but I immediately changed my order and paid a bit more to get the newer gold one and do not regret it. If I got the silver one, it just wouldn't look as good on display as the new gold one. I sprayed the insides with PAM no stick spray and have not had any issues with the cake getting stuck in the pan. It came out so easily with such a nice pattern. I'm not joking when I say literally nothing was left behind in the pan. Just make sure you spray it well and take a tissue to spread it around the inside evenly in case you missed any spots. Now when you take off the cardboard wrapping the pan, you'll notice that it comes with a recipe on the inside. I decided to try and follow that recipe for the first time to see how it tastes and I do not recommend it. It is the same recipe the company has on their official website "Honeycomb Lemon Cake". The cake batter was just so thick and when the cake was done, it was not soft at all. The cake itself really tasted quite awful. Only the honey lemon glaze that comes with the recipe is quite good. See below for the glaze recipe. I recommend picking another cake recipe and just use only the glaze recipe that comes with the pan. The pictures I took on this review are of the cake recipe that came with the pan. Honey Lemon Glaze 3 tbsp. honey 1/2 cup powdered sugar 2 tbsp. lemon juice 1) In a small saucepan, combine all glaze ingredients and heat over medium heat until sugar dissolves and glaze is warm. 2) Invert cake onto the cooling rack and after 10 minutes of cooling, brush the cake with the honey glaze.
