Will the sealer make the cork loose it's natural ability to keep your feet dry and allow them to breathe?

no - this product should only be used on the sides of the sandal to prevent cracking and splitting of the cork. please do not use on the footbed. :)

Is the cork sealant as good as the original Barge cement glue?

Not familiar with the original Barge cement glue. I have been wearing Birkenstocks for 25 years and have always been happy with the cork sealant. Birkenstocks are the only shoes I wear.

The shoe store who sold me my birks told me too not only apply this to the cork but also to the actual footbed now it feels hard. Is this right?

No that was not right. The sealant should Only be applied to the cork on the outside of the shoe. Never apply it on the footbed!
