Martin Luther King Jr.: My First Martin Luther King Jr. (Volume 33)

I couldn’t recommend this book more highly enough.My son has been seeing what’s been happening on the TV and he’s five he was asking me so many questions and I found it really difficult to explain.So I bought this story for him in hopes that it would help with some of the questions that he had.He was absolutely disgusted with the way how Martin Luther King was treated. It genuinely upset him when we where reading. What Infuriated him the most was Martin Luther king invited over to play with a friend but because he was black he was sent home and he wasn’t allowed to sit on the bus with his friends he was in allowed to go to the same school, & he was arrested for being black.He didn’t understand how people can treat other people differently just because the colour of their skin.He is learn some valuable lessons from this book. On why we don’t judge anybody and if we are going to judge a person we don’t judged by the colour of their skin but by their character.I have recommended this book to my friends who have bought for their children after explaining what had happened with my son.

Excellent book, although a little advanced for my 2 year old he loves story's and what better story's to read him than real life heroes. Quality of books are excellent

I bought this book as I wanted to my daughter to learn about Black History and to learn about those who strived for change in a world, where sadly to thus day skin pigmentation defines if you are afforded privilege. This book delivers a message of acceptance and diversity and strenth in a 'child friendly' way. I have since bought many other books within the series.

Brought as a present for my 6 year old nephew.He’s been reading with mum, but I’ve had lovely reports that it’s generated discussions around black poverty and how MLK helped changed this. A great conversation starter.

Such a gorgeous book for a young reader, and a vital story to be shared with children and adults too. Really pleased that I purchased this as a gift for a friend's child this Christmas.
