Great book for any gardener!
I saw the authors of this book on "Central Texas Gardener" TV show and immediately asked my hubby for this book for my birthday. I am so happy that I did! I am a Master Gardener as well as a native plant lover and after several years of drought, it is ESSENTIAL that I garden with waterwise plants. This book is so READABLE! The soft cover makes it easy to flip through and the color-coded pages help you see how it is broken into sections without having to go back and forth to the Table of Contents. They devoted an entire page to each plant, so you have complete growing instructions, beautiful photographs -- and the symbols at the top tell you at a glance things like deer-resistance, sun requirements, whether it attracts bees or butterflies, etc. I am so pleased with this book! I highly recommend it to ANY gardener!

Good pictures and format
This is basically a list of plants, all zones seem mixed together. The authors live in the West and they seem to favor plants that grow best in low humidity, so not as helpful for those in the South.

Great Guide for Beginning a Water-Wise Garden
Colorado and much of the West is in the throes of a terrible drought, and it just makes sense to convert grass to Zeriscape, for now and the future. Got this on my Kindle Fire and it was a wonderful help in planning the zeriscape area where the front lawn used to be. My one complaint was that the conversion to an e-book was not very well editied and there were big spaces in the wrong spots, so it was sometimes hard to tell which picture went with which plant description. However, the pictures looked great on the Fire, and the information was very helpful.

good reference source
this book serves as a good source of information about drought tolerant plants, their daily care and and yearly needs for pruning and/or fertilizers. For me, I would have loved to see the plants more in a landscape setting to see how the plantswork well with others.

Where can I find these? I thought
1 small format page per plant with picture of almost half the page, zone, plant height and breadth, uninspired design ideas, usually related plants. In a book with plant in the title did not expect so many trees. The varieties named for my zone largely unavailable in local nurseries, so was not much use. Good effort though.

Love it
I bought this book for myself and loved it so much I bought another copy for a gift. The pictures are great and then they tell you a lot about each plant. Plants are for a variety of zones. I wish I could plant everything in the book, but my zone is too harsh for that.

A bible for the Mediterranean gardener and designer
This book offers a great variety of plants that can be used in Mediterranean environments: areas prone to summer drought and wet winter cold. Nevertheless, there are some plants pictured in the book that don't fit the bill because they need wetter environments.

Gardening in arid zones
Excellent guide but mostly apporpriate to USA. Plant types tend to be native and unsuited/ unavailable to EU
